Well, my dream project is under way! I've wanted to do the Rocketeer since I first saw the movie in theaters. I'm planning to archive this project start to finish.

The jacket came from Abbeyshot, BEAUTIFUL piece and is made for LONG years of use!

Very nice! Looking forward to seeing more!

A quick note to anybody finishing the resin kits, get a mini-cordless dremel from Walmart for $20 and some 1/4 inch drum head sanders. For the teeth on the helmet and the grill on the rocketpack, work from the inside and the parts will open up without having to cut from outside the pack and risk marring the parts. That's a trick I learned the hard way.

Re: My Rocketeer Project

Jeff, can I ask where you got the Jetpack Kit from? I'm looking into doing my Rocketeer very soon! I know Monsters In Motion do a kit but its pricey.. anyone else do one or is MIM the way to go?

Cheers for any help in advance buddy

Sorry, I know you meant the question for Jeff... but I think I can answer your question in the meantime. That's the kit MiM sells. It's the only kit I'm aware of.

Re: My Rocketeer Project

Thanks guys! Yeah, you can purchase the resin helmet and rocket pack from MIM.

I'm currently working on building a Rocketeer Archive website with a lot of close up Ref. Shots of the Packs and Costumes. As well as all the information that you'll need to put together a costume, my tutorial will be up there as well. I'm also trying to update the Finhead Central Forum to it's previous glory.

Update!
I finished up the hand stitching on the base Control Gauntlets.

I'm picking up the rest of the gauntlet leather on Thursday.

And about 2 hours of work I knocked out the metal Gauntlet Control Button Mounts. Nice and heavy duty.

I need to modify the Pop rivet tubes and make them shorter so they won't be poking my hand through the glove.

Testing

I also picked up some Aluminum rods, tapped them and attached the Flap detail parts.

I'm currently waiting on the Radiator Grill, Grill details and upper fin detail parts! Looking forward to those pieces!

More SOON!

Re: My Rocketeer Project

Today I designed and worked on the Patterns for the rest of the Gauntlets. I have photo reference of at least 3 different versions of the Gauntlets. I decided to go with what I think looks best, and what I think are the hero ones.

With estimated measurements, I threw them into Rhino to get them as close as I think is right.

Next up is to make up a prototype!

Re: My Rocketeer Project

dood..... you should make duplicates of the guantlets!!

ya know to recoup your costs!

Re: My Rocketeer Project

:cool you actually read my mind! Today I bought the leather to make the above parts and lets just say... I can make a BUNCH of them. The smallest hide my Tandy store had in stock was 17sq. ft. ... eeep! But I know it's a tough piece for a lot of Finheads to replica, so after I work out all the snags I'm thinking of doing a SMALL run. Or at least putting together a "kit", since I'll have left over supplies like rivets and grommets, and of course leather. We'll see!

Re: My Rocketeer Project

Thanks!

Picked up some more supplies: BIG ass hide of leather and dye, as well as tubing for the Gauntlets!
