My New ESB Yoda In The Works...

Hey Guys!

About a year ago I started working on a new Yoda, with the goal of being a complete animatronic puppet head to toe when finished. The final piece will be done in silicone skins over a fiberglass frame with servos, the whole nine yards! With this animatronic goal in mind, I'm trying to keep his mouth slightly open... I might even lower the eyelids a little more too. Basically making everything right in the middle of it's movement abilities.

With work projects it was pushed to the back burner and left with a bag on it for about a whole year now.... Gino's recent Yoda got me really motivated to finish my ultimate Yoda, so I did some work today on the head. This is a long way from being finished... really a labor of love and I'm in no rush at all, but I do hope that I can get the head, hands, feet and body done sometime this summer :D

I couldn't resist a little teaser! Stay tuned...

wow !!!

ur works looks great as always, i love ur work very much.

what type and brand of clay do u use often for ur sculpt ??

Your work is really incredible.

And I couldn't possibly offer up a criticism.

But in the spirit of trying to be genuinely helpful...

I have looked and looked at promo pix and frame grabs 'til I'm blue in the face (or maybe green), and it seems to me that perhaps your sculpt is just smiling a bit too much, and perhaps the upper lip is just a tad too long.

Just my opinion.

Fantastic work, as always.

By all means, I will welcome criticism... this is far from done in any shape or form. I re-tooled it already from a closed mouth to how it is now, and this will look much different when even further along ;)

He looks so young. Very cool. Reminds me of a real prankster in those shots.

Now that you said it, I always scratched my head about why ILM couldn´t get Yoda to look like Yoda and still have him look younger. I think that just de-wrinkling him with a slight lifting here and there would have done a job a thousand times better than what we have now.

Back on topic, that Yoda looks fantastic !

Yeah, they made him looking older and like a whole other creature from Yoda's race.

Looking forward to seeing the mentioned progress.

I still cant believe how the guys from LFL were pleased with their PT Yoda...OMG :eek he looks so awefull:thumbsdown

Awesome work Howard. As talented and respected as you are, I think for me the thing that always impresses me the most is how consistent you are. Each piece is as good if not better than the last...and you're like a machine. One after the other after the other....
Great work...as always.:)

They shouldn't have tampered with his age period. He's supposed to be 900 years old.........how can 40 years make any difference in his appearance whatsoever????
