My Mjolnir build: COMPLETE (pg.2)

Re: My Mjolnir build: DONE? Pg. 2 Pic heavy

I love the way this turned out. I'd also like to see your dad's reaction.

I am definitely going to have to try one of these. How did you attach the leather loop to the handle.

Re: My Mjolnir build: DONE? Pg. 2 Pic heavy

That's a good question:
The handle, originally, was hollow, so I filled it with resin to get some weight. I didn't fill it all the way up so that I would have room to put a screw in, and then instead of drilling it in , It is sealed in to the end of the handle with resin. The loop is secured by the screw, and the screwhead is hidden by a piece of leather that was stripped and glued to appear seamless on the underside

I'm not sure if I'll be able to get my fathers' reaction, just with the logistics of "my plan"... I'll try though.

I'm not expecting "nintendo64 kid" with it or anything ;)

Re: My Mjolnir build: DONE? Pg. 2 Pic heavy

Thanks for the info on the loop. I have a couple of different ideas that I might try when I get around to making one. One other thing I was wondering is where you got your pvc pipe for the handle. The pipe walls look much thicker than what I remember seeing at Lowes or Home Depot.

Even if you can't get a reaction shot you should definitely post a shot of him with the hammer.

Hmm.... problem there. I got it out of a "box of scraps"..."in a cave" (Box labeled various plastics in a local industrial surplus store)

If i'm on that side of town tomorrow I'll see if they're still there

Re: My Mjolnir build: DONE? Pg. 2 Pic heavy

Ah, great Christmas morning:
I found for dad dad The Mighty THOR Issue # 192 and put that under the tree since I didn't have time to make a "fake gift".

He was really tickled by that to start, but I had him go out to the shed and see if he could "help me with something".

It took him a second to realize what he was looking for, but once he did he giggled to himself for a few minutes and started swinging it around. He seemed very tickled and nostalgic!
The best part was, for the next hour I never saw him put it down. A sure sign that someone likes the toy you got them ;)

I'll get some beauty shots in a proper setting now that the cat is out of the bag.
