My joker progress thread. COMPLETE (PHOTODUMP)

Re: First Look @ Rubies Joker Wig (couple more impression vids)

Alrighty So.... Here is what some Rigid Collodian is capable of :D
(This is my second time using it)
Much better than the first time IMO :D
Also, if you are interested...here is a youtube channel I just started to document, eh. Well... "things".

I'm REALLY in pain over not being able to start sewing up the actual costume pieces. I have all this fabric but no machine! *cries*

Re: Rubies wig>Now my joker progress thread.

those scares r amazing are those the ruby scars??

Griff

DEFINITELY NOT!
It's rigid collodion
A liquid compound that contracts and tightens with each layer placed on the skin.
You have to be very careful and methodical about how you apply it, otherwise considering facial movement and accuracy, you might not have something that looks.... 'right'.
Also to consider, rigid collodion does pose a danger,... (illustrated here)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-t7jvkp7UOw
You have to shave quite closely, as well... where you apply it if you don't want to tear your facial hair out upon removal! :X

ps... the 'rubies' scars Look horrifyingly bad IMO:thumbsdown

Thanks for the info Bryan;)
Looking great as always!:cool

Re: Rubies wig>Now my joker progress thread.

Amazing! Those scars look great...how long did it take you to apply the rigid collodion to look like that?

Re: Rubies wig>Now my joker progress thread.

NECROBump for an update from me!

I guess it's been, what... almost 2 years since I started this project and never finished?

I'd say it's about time...
Recently I bit the bullet and decided to go ahead and buy a new tie, off the cuff... I went ahead decided that despite not having a Joker costume, I would get Magnoli's Joker tie replica.

Well, the moment I opened the packaging all the feelings I had for Ledger's Joker immediately returned (after some dormancy), and I went into my fabric stash and dug out Kwally's beautiful shirt fabric. Within the next half hour I had secured a shirt pattern and interfacing and had begun sewing the shirt.

The very next night, same story for the vest....
feeling on a roll, I finished the shirt and vest (minus buttons), and on a whim went to Joanns' to see what kind of fabric they had.
Lo and behold, unlike my last attempt: I found EXACTLY the kind of fabric I was hoping for!
A velour look poly called "blackberry velour" nailed the color and 'perceived' texture of the outer coat, and I found a linen with enough blue and purple in it to pass for the pants.

So, having all the fabric I'm ready to go!
So to this point I have:
A Wig:
Magnoli Tie:
Finished shirt (pending buttonholes and buttons)
Finished vest ('')
Pants fabric died and being pinstriped:

Coat patterned and awaiting sewing:
Magnoli braces in route:
Tabio socks in route:

Still need-
OTF Knife (to be picked up on saturday/sunday)
MP40 airsoft (This is the 'scene' I'm going for with my look)
Either more rigid collodium or some accurate silicone scars (suggestions?)
accurate gloves (suggestions?)

Here is the current progress on the pinstriping (about 5+ hrs over three nights work):

And here is the best representation of the natural light colors and textures on all of the pieces:

I DO NOT intend to go to conventions. Photos of this 'Final costume" will be taken in a specific setting by my timeframe and with my own selected photographer.

Re: NECROBump!! Big update for me :my joker progress thread.

where did you find the stripy stuff for the back of the vest

and what are you using to pinstripe the pants, the fabric looks really great

Re: NECROBump!! Big update for me :my joker progress thread.

Vest lining was found at Joann's.

I'm top-stitching each line on the pants using a heavy-weight polyester thread (Gutermann extra strong thread)

Re: NECROBump!! Big update for me :my joker progress thread.

Tonight's update:

*copypasta*
"... finished the pin-striping early this afternoon after I got off work.
Started sewing and at 3AM here's what I've got!

Just have to alter the back for my waistline, add the belt inside facing, and hem the pants."

More (better) pictures will come with more substantial progress.

Btw does anyone have experience with TRAUMAFX Joker scars?
Do you guys have any recommendations for screen ready (re-usable) scar appliances?

Re: NECROBump!! Big update for me :my joker progress thread.

There's a little mom and pop collectibles shop in St. Augustine that I saw it in last year when I was on a weekend vacation. This weekend I went up there to visit some friends and made a point to stop in and see if they had it still and they did :)

Re: NECROBump!! Big update for me :my joker progress thread.

A couple updates:
Braces came in today from Magnoli:
Again, BEAUTIFUL, absolute top-quality!

Found a jacket at Burlington that I could use for my under-coat

Purchased an airsoft shotgun with a close resemblance to the Remington he uses

Bought, and started cutting my NEW wig. This one has a lace front, so I'm able to remove hair and thin the crows peak to hopefully match the thinning hair ledger had going on for TDK:

AFTER thinning

I still need to blend it in by removing the cut hair-ties from the mesh but otherwise it looks just like a thinning hair line... (or it should!)

During costume-wear I should be able to blend it in with the white-makeup even more...

Re: NECROBump!! Big update for me :my joker progress thread.

i the first picture you look like Captain Hook XP

but i like the wig
cant wait to see it with color

Re: NECROBump!! Big update for me :my joker progress thread.

So I finished the cut and added a little green for effect:

The green isn't permanent, it's just the spray on-wash off stuff

I still have to pull out some of the hair-knots at the roots to help the hairline blend in.
I'm very pleased with how this has turned out :)
