Found these gloves... Going to carve them up with the dremel and paint them up. Love that the inside is cloth... Very comfy.

Just regular old water based acrylic paint I picked up at the Dollar Store.

Nope. Use the stuff all the time. Thin watered down coats work great.

46 more days till Ottawa Pop Expo when I want to premiere my Groot. Gotta get cracking!

Started the texture. Needed a break from the hot glue so this is a pleasant change.



I'm using black tissue paper I got at Michael's. Watered down white glue is doing the trick.



Added the Velcro for the front bark plates. This way the zipper is accessible.

Looking great man, love the idea of concealing the zipper with the velcroed bark plates! I will be starting on the body of my groot tomorrow and this thread continues to be inspiring,

I use a mat spray seal when it is done.

I'm only going to be there on Saturday. Half the day I will be at the 501st booth (I'm on the command team of our garrison). Groot should be out and about in the afternoon. Just waiting to confirm 501st schedules.

Awesome! I look forward to seeing you there. I'm not sure what costumes I'll be wearing, but I definitely want to try to get Star-Lord ready for the Saturday now. Just a little repair work on the helmet (though I do want to completely remake it at some point to improve the fit and visibility!), and maybe I'll try to get a Walkman built if I have time.

Quick paint test. Wanted to check how well the tissue paper will hold up before I put too much on.

Whats the verdict on the tissue? If it holds up well, it makes much more sense than having to base coat it black if you had applied regular tissue.
