My Ghostbusters Ghost Trap - Lots of Metal

This Ghost Trap has metal all around it. The sides and base are 1/4" aluminum, machined & powder coated. A few other plates are annodized black. Grip/handle is machined aluminum also, bolted together and bolted to the main resin body.

The little Red Lens under the Handle I added a light to - the Toggle Switch next to it turns it on. Batteries are under the annodized plate the switch & lens are on. That's as far as I've messed with it. A few friends have my kit and I think their planning on doing more with it, even smoke effects since you can get into the interior of it with the hinged doors I made for it...

That's very cool. I would be up for a kit if you plan on selling any. I know the wife would want one of these.

When I make one of these, it takes at least 2 weeks to get the machined parts, and another week for the Powder Coater to do his thing. All other parts I make at home, then assemble it all together. It's a nice prop when done and weighs over 8 lbs.

I can vouch for just how amazing of a prop this is as I just bought one not long ago. The craftsmanship is top notch and it is one VERY stout prop! 8 lbs may not sound like much, but when you pick up this trap, it absolutely feels like what you would think a metal trap should feel like if it were a real piece of equipment. Honestly, it's pretty darn heavy.

Just a really beautifully done prop!

Does anyone know if there's ever been a trap prop that actually lights up from inside when the trap is open? Seems like it would be a pretty simple modification with LED lights (for someone with craftsman skills of course, unlike myself =( )

"I looked into the light, Ray!"

There is a thread on GBFans about a metal trap build with strobes and what not inside the cartridge, but all of the photos have been taken down for some reason.

That is a beautiful piece of work, the best I have seen. Hats off to you on producing such a super prop.
