My First Silicone Bust! American Werewolf...

Hi Everyone!

I now have a new found respect for silicone busts! This had to be the most challenging piece I have ever worked on to date ;) The full piece is cast in a translucent platinum based silicone, the teeth are full acylic dentures and the hair was partially National Fiber and hand punched single strand hairs.

First off, I had a great opportunity in getting detailed calipered measurements off of an actual production head to use like all of the Madame Tussaud wax museums do to make this as accurate as possible :D Not only did I get the measurements I needed for the sculpture, I also got to take some great photos in Rick Baker's shop while visiting him a few months back of my target head!

Originally I wanted to make Indy my first silicone bust, but I decided I would start with this werewolf piece to cut my teeth on (no pun intended). Now that I have all of the techniques down, this will make for a super realistic Indy bust! I'm also currently working on another transformation head, the one where he looks more like David ;)

I would also like to thank Guy Louis for walking me through the silicone process and for his amazing Fuse FX platinum silicone paints!

I didnt know you could improve apon perfection... But the look of the silicone adds that little extra touch of realism.

Awesome as usual Howard, cant wait to see the Harrison/indy bust done up in silicone! :love

Well you set a new benchmark again Howard. Looks an absolutely stunning work of art.... You're quite good at this sculpting lark, aren't you LOL :)

Nice for a first one...

J/K, it´s awesome, just scarily lifelike ! I can´t imagine what a complete display would look like !

P.S.: If Pam A. would have chosen that thread title, I wouldn´t have believed her ;) .

That is totally freakin awesome Howard!!

What are the warning signs of stroke?
Wasn't it...slurred speech...unable to hold arms out straight..

:eek:eek:eek I'm speechless as well Howard. Every time I think you raise the bar in sculpting you do something that boogles my mind even further ... your first time working with silicone and punching hair and you've hit damn near perfection! I can't wait to see what the other AWIL piece will look like.

How long did it take you to complete?

Geez... someone give that guy some aspirin! Wait... he's not real... erm, "it" I mean... IT'S not real... Oh forget it, just give the aspirin to me.

Wow Howard!

That came out Incredible man! I can’t wait to see the Indy, and
the female figure you have in the works! After all, your way overdue
on doing a babe sculpt! :cool

Looks like it jumped right off the screen. I cannot stress just how impressed I am. Any chance you can get a few more shots but alot closer? I'd love to see more of the detail.
