Polyurethane molds for silicone masks

Hey folks, I'm new to silicone mask making but made a couple using polyurethane molds and want to know if this is the way to go regarding their lifespan. . It appears to be the fastest method which is what attracted me to it but I want to start making molds that will last hundreds of pulls.

Stan Winston online school has a set of videos showing how Immortal Masks makes their molds for production. It's a great course and I have made a couple molds this way. I don't have much experience with polyurethane molds, so I don't know which way is better, but it might be worth watching the videos so you can compare.

Thanks I will check them out

be carful working with Polyurethane, when it says use a release agent make sure you do. it will stick to anything. Every mold maker I know has at some time forgotten and thought its is just like silicone and will release from most things.

For silicone masks, if you want a very durable working mold, I´d go for epoxy+fiberglass.
I assume you are talking about PU resin. It works, as you said it's a fast moldmaking material. It can be combined with fillers, and even thickened with polyfibers or reinforced with fiberglass. You might experience some slight inhibitions depending on what resin you use, but that can be solved with postcuring.
But all in all epoxy+fiberglass is far more durable and stable for a working mold that size. If as you say, you are expecting hundreds of pulls I wouldn't doubt it.
