Terminator Future War Bust

Working on a Future War bust. Aligning all the needed endoskeleton parts. Haven't added pistons yet as I don't know yet which we need, if any.

I'm thinking we do a combination of T1, T2 and T3 battle damage and put him in torn rags with a kind of hoodie, similar to what we saw Franco Columbu wear in the future war scene in T1. Uncertain at this point how far down the torso we will go or whether we just keep it to the Schwarzenegger part of the middle picture, but thought it would be best to position the endoskeleton torso, also in order to determine the position and angle of the neck - it also gave me the placement of the neck on the torso... it sits a lot higher than most licensed and fanmade endoskeletons or busts have them... but this is one of the benefits of working with the Schwarzenegger model.

I used ghostman's torso for this render as his file size for the whole torso is a lot smaller than my scans, so it is easier to work with while lining things up. Will use my own scans for the bust.

I work slow, so please be patient.

I was inspired by this particular bust. We won't make ours as zombie-fyed, so you cannot make out Schwarzeneggers features, but we will make him gross and torn apart in a naturalistic way like seen in T1. Peeled and/or burned skin, rotting flesh, etc.

It's actually interesting. The endo skull jaw doesn't fit inside the Genisys Arnold model. The bottom angle of the jaw isn't steep enough, so the rear protrudes out of his face. Angling the jaw to his face makes it look more like a human jaw, but definitely not accurate to the endo skull sculpt. With torn flesh and only peeks at the jaw I hope it won't look too weird on the finished piece, but I need to make it fit his face to get things right.

I'm sure a more skilled 3D modeler could have reshaped the jaw so it looked better... but this is what I'm capable of... and it looks decent.

Compared with my foam skull to the right. Though, the jaw on that one isn't angled as it should be. It should be further down in the front and further up in the back... but even with that it would still look really squared compared to how Arnold's face really is.

Lining things up with the Genisys Arnold model it also became clear that the shoulder motor sculpt is made in a way that won't fit inside Arnold's body. The large ring shape out towards the arms should be 3.6+ cm lower than it is or maybe scaled down like they did with the Genisys endo. If that is done, then it sits near perfectly inside the body. Another thing is the shoulder piece that attaches to that ring. If the bottom "foot" was imbedded in the ring and not sitting flush, it would also fit inside the Genisys Arnold model... though... it shouldn't be centered, but placed a bit more back. Haven't checked the rest of the endoskeleton parts.

Added pictures of the parts in question.

Second attempt at battle damage. T1 style. I couldn't get razor sharp cuts, so I will have to figure out how to add those later. Also need to add peeled skin flaps hanging down here and there. Will add them later.

Did the eye area yesterday, then forgot not to move closer in towards the bust as that messes up Blender and I damaged the geometry. I had gotten really far too... and like a moron forgot to save while I was going... and for some reason the damage traveled back into earlier stages, so I couldn't go back and save an earlier one. Lesson learned... but will likely be forgotten in the future... as I've done this enough to actually know better by now.

Anyway. Hope you like.

Was thinking. Maybe the issue with the geometry becoming all whack is because I use the "draw" tool that just pushes the existing geometry around, stretching and compressing it. Maybe, for these holes I should use the "clay" tool that adds new geometry to the area... and will thereby not mess up the geometry as much...

Will try that next.

If any Blender users know how to make thin, sharp and deep cuts in a surface to simulate scratches I'd love to hear about it. So far I've been using the "pinch" tool in minus mode... I tried the "crease" tool, but couldn't get it to look right.

Funny thing. Since I have the Genysis Arnold, I'll try placing all the endo parts inside to see how they fit and see if the nomal placement we see is correct for Arnold or whether changes needs to be made. We already know that the jaw, shoulder motor and shoulder piece needs some changes to fit. Will be interesting to see what else.

Though, since the Genysis Arnold 3D model isn't completely made from a scan of of him - only the head and upper chest (but they made the neck shorter for some reason) - it isn't 100% certain, shape-wise. But close enough.

:p Some cool things here!!! I'm "ZBRUSHer" , so maybe I can help . . . But sorry for my poor and bad English and excuse me if I don't understand very well (the traductor sometimes, translate badly), I'm from France

In ZBrush, some "tools" can help to make sharp and deep cuts, and eventually thin if you play with "the scale of the brush", I show you 2 tools than help me to make this wounds for you on my model :

Thanks for that man, very good renderings(y)(y)(y) Don't worry about the translation; I'm bilingual French/English and, if you're trying to convey an idea that doesn't seem to translate well in English I can help with that too.;)

E: Ok, I take note my friend! :p
