My first Predator Costume

Thin shell test pull of my bio. So psyched that the undercut at the tube worked out. Gonna do some casts tonight with the proper thickness. Man, what a relief!!! ;)

Gonna do some sanding and tooling as well, to see if I can smooth out some spots. Not too much though, as I want it to look battle worn.

My first cast was a little bit worse) Congrats)
Thanks bud!! I know I can do better than I did, and I think it shows a bit that I rushed things. I even forgot the tube mount on the Right lower jaw corner. I was too excited ;) cant wait to do some decent pulls tonight and start tooling them for painting

A plus side is that I have the shape to work off of for future bios. I could melt some monster clay, coat it and start from there. Man I am psyched!!!

Reccomendations on resin brands for durable bios? I have some fabri-cast and some model-pro resins, but interested in more durable stuff....

So, after a couple of casts, I have realized that I needed to bring the edges of the silicone mold down into the bio more than I did. So, what I may do is do a resculpt, and re-mold or I may try to salvage this mold by adding more edging to it. Not so sure it will work, but it wont take too much more silicone....

Well, got some casts, but none are as good as I envisioned. It is such a pain to get the resin to stay where you want it...any tips? Like how much do you undercut the silicone? I am pretty sure I ****** that part up. And I did not ho thick enough. So, its waiting time till I can afford more molding/casting materials. :( Here are the casts along side the one I had bought. One thing is definite, I love my design way more than the one I bought.

Looks great to me Dillon! :D Congrats! :D

Just my 2 cents...if you don't mind.. I know you're getting frustrated some times when things don't go the way you plan them, but nothing wrong with all your creative work, you're killing it in that dept.,..just remember to breathe though, okay? :D

and have fun!!! :D

Not sure if you already looked into it, but most times bios are cast in "Smooth-cast Onyx".

But great work on the bio! It's refreshing to see more sculpting molding and casting going on!

Thanks buddy! Yeah, Im just telling myself this is a learning curve that we all go through. Plus side Is I still have many parts to fabricate, so I can take breaks and now wotk in something different. Gonna cast my bio in monster clay, fix the tube mount I misssd, and re- mold with more patience, and less rushing. Good side? I have some wall hangings for friends, after paint up!!!

Planning on switchin gears back to hands once my sculpts are re-done. Ultracal will be here on sat. Is release needed for latex with ultracal? Also, ratios for thinning/adding latex to acrylics for airbrushing? Sorry for the tons of questions, dudes!!

Was just reassessing the bios, and they arent half bad, def gonna paint em up fir decorations, maybe a standard one, and then one with a wild color scheme/design. Maybe some Yautja designs...however, what I did was size down the actual size compared to my original, and Im realizing why bio helmets run on the large size lol. These wont cut it for halloween or cosplay. Maybe for my kids, bit not for me. Anyhow, I feel now more encouraged, to keep on going. Ya learn as ya go, and every mistake is a few experience points. Love this stuff, I am so happy that I found this hobby and this site. You guys are great!!

Hey all, been working and failing, and gaining experience which is always good. Question- from this pic, do you think this rough sculpts size will accommodate for my hand after latex shrinkage? Also, here is my bio fail- needs to be bigger, and I needed to spend more time refining it not to mention practicing with my airbrush. Advice is welcome! Thanks!

Heres more progress on hand prosthetics. What do upu guys yse for textures? Want to make the gloves have a different texture than the actual hands. The hands I plan on having bumps/scaling on the top side, flat/palm lines on the palm side.

Reccomendations for ratios of latex, paint and a thinner for painting latex? Read a few suggestions, but what works for you all?
