My first pepakura helmet experience (stormtrooper ep VII)

First of all sorry for typos (english is not my native tonge) i am one of those weird mexicans who actually live in mexico. Im new in all this forum stuff so excuse me if i offend some one, it is not my intention

So i was looking for star wars stuff of the newest movie and pepakura got in to my life. I know nothing about papercraft or anything at all. so i print a small R2 who end more like a pokeball in a trash can. then i watch helmets, it was amazing what people can do with paper... so i got inspire and decide to go for a first order stormtrooper. btw. i need to look for the person who upload the file and say thx.

And this is what i found in the process

*The cuts of the paper has to be accurate as well as the folding, i didn't think it was important but it really is.
I finish all the cutting and folding and gluing after screwing lots of paper by gluing wrong and unaccurate cuts... and it was resin and fiberglass time

i have never touched fiberglass before and i was kind of nervous and excited to begin to use the resin. i had no gloves and my hands become very sticky and make the terrible mistake of touch the fiberglass, i wanted to see the reaction between the resing and the fiber, but instead i felt the reaction of biggest itch in my arms and hands.

*I strongly recommend to use gloves when working with resin and fiberglass

I was desperate to take the fiberglass out of my hands and in the middle of all the scratching and washing i begin to feel kinda dizzy and sick cuz of the smell of resin

*Use a proper respirator, the ones made of cloth does not work at all, and work on a well ventilated place.

any way, this is what i did
i put it on the rooftop, the sun will make it to dry in seconds

So its done, but its not round like the ones i see, there's lots of angles that are "highlighted" cuz the resin
and i bought a thing called "Plaster"
This Plaster thing it's like mid dry grey paint very easy to apply and to sand. it looks like rock when dry but... it just leave a very thin layer and dont cover like big angles or holes.
its great for finishing touch tho. plaster does not need for catalizer but you have to wait like an hour for complete dry.

*Plaster has chemicals vapours same to the resin, doesn't smell similar, but it kick your brain as well. Dont forget your respirator

You can see all the pointy angles

*Use your respirator at sanding. it will generate to many dust, all you can and will taste its gonna be plaster/bondo dust on your mouth besides the coughing

...and sanding, and sanding ....

( all the grinding were made by hand at this piont)

I don't like. it has no sphere shape on the top (cuz i fail on the cutting and gluing)
tthen i bought bondo
so more sanding, and bondoing and sanding...

I do smoke but not while im doing the sanding or bondoing, or fiberglassing? you know what i ment

...and i buy a sander

At this piont it was really smoot but still feld kind of bumpy. The thing is that its hard to sand even and it couses to feel that way. so... i decide to painted white
it help a lot cuz of the shadows.

Yeah, i guess i watch mad max too much.. so .. guess i have been influenced haha (I just learn how to reply rofl)
We that's some heavy weathering! Like it was left outside for years.

I like the heavy weathering... it wants to tell me the story of a Stormtrooper. Perhaps he was marooned on a distant planet. What happened to him? How did he get there? Is he still alive? If so, where?

It's amazing the kind of things a good prop makes you think about. And this looks great, Lateraluz! Well done!
