Got my first truly epic model such a amazing kit now I too know the amazing wonder that is Bandai. Can't believe how crap an Mpc kit is compared to this no mods needed at all its like the perfect miniature studio model almost

Then I came to this part and saw that for some reason the top panel doesn't fit perfectly did I do something wrong or is it a know issue? I can't imagine a Bandai model would need putty to fill stuff up because they are made so perfectly

I have the exact same problem.

BTW, how poseable are your legs? I would have thought that there would have been some swivel in at least one of the joints

astroboy no the legs are absolutely ridged and stiff except for the few movements the joint's which is backwards on the legs and upwards for the foot pads. the connectors that attach the legs to the drive train can only go sideways not up or down which makes it kind of a headache for me as well I would love to pose it better

How do you plan on fixing that gap on your's ?

I will probably leave the gap alone. It just looks like another panel line IMHO.

A humongous one on mine haha. But I did some playing if you don't push the round connect for the legs all the way in at the main body you have some more posebility room not much but it works.

DA - Something to be aware of with this kit. For some reason Bandai used a particular type of plastic that can be adversely affected by paint thinner and mineral spirit based washes. They can cause the plastic to disintegrate and fall apart, particularly in joints and other areas where the wash might pool. As far as I know this hasn't been a problem with other Bandai kits, just this one.

Hey Dave thanks for the heads up on this thread!! I was aware of the problem from reading various bandai build Threads so Now I have another stern reminder don't use paint thinners or mineral spirit wash or Enamel wash I believe.I only use acrylic on all my models don't like enamel very much.So Acrylic AT-ST it will be :D

Hey darth, one thing I just mentioned in the other thread is that of you ditch the stock stand you can put the legs a little off kilter and this walker looks much better. It's far more aggressive when it's off kilter.

Thanks astro I was also thinking an of kilter stance with a new base would be the best already did an moded MPC AT-ST that looks as if it's walking. But a standing AT-ST with an eye catching aggressive stance would be my aim for this one. Will see what I can cook up

Thanks for the pic Astro

That gap on top is surprising; however there also appears in your image gaps on the side edges... is it possible the 'face' assembly is not fully seated at its connectors? Seems if the side gaps closed then so would the front edge of the top panel.

R/ Robert

The stance may be because they copied the Lucas Archival animation maquette that might have been displayed in a "relaxed" slumped pose. It does look a bit wimpy in this stance.

That gap was a problem with mine as well. As I recall I had the work the fit of the face and other parts until the top closed up. Actually getting out the hobby knife for the first time on this kit!
