my Captain America Winter Soldier Stealth Suit WIP

Thanks for for all the great tips and WIP pics. You've really done wonders with the air soft shield! I was pretty set on the steel sled method for my shield but I love your magnet system and the look of your shield overall to the point that I'm rethinking my options.

I tried searching the RPF and the web in general for Biggeek but I came up empty handed. Any chance you could point me in the right direction? I know this thread's been quiet for a while now but any help would be appreciated!

Hey, maybe this thread :

Hey I know its been a while since you made this harness, but do you have dimensions for the back buckle? Also - seriously, you cut PVC foam board with an exacto blade? how thick was it? (the board) I have 1/4 inch and I used a dremel tool

where do you find your glove because i will love to have them too ;)

Here they are, and I used the Kiwi brown show dye to make them darker.

lol yep, a steady hand and a lot of blades. I found that when I cut it with anything else, the edges were jagged and rough and sanding it made it worse.

check out this image for dimensions, the grid is 1"x1" squares.

I actually pulled this all out of storage yesterday. I plan on working on it some more and getting it read for a Age of Ultron update. I hope to wear at least the shield to the premiere. Only issue that I ran into was some of the 3M tape was coming loose. I think it was due to dust that I neglected to clean from the surface before adhering it. I am going to try my best to salvage it.

Thanks, i did use your pictures and managed to get pretty close to your measurements. Still not sure how you did it with an exacto. I snapped at least one. Dremel tool worked ok although a bit rougher than i would have liked.

Dean Stengler had a kit available here for a while earlier this year that included the BBB (Big Back Buckle).

You might check the Junkyard to see it he's still offering it.

Here's a photo.

Hey! I just bought the PVC Cattoys 24 inch AVENGERS AUO shield off ebay for $150 and I am about to do the star mod. Do you have an quick tips? Do I need to strip the clear coat before I do it?

You don't need to strip the clear coat, but you will have to repaint after you are done. Slow and steady wins the race on this Mod. I would say practice on a similar surface, so you can get he feel for it. Good Luck!

I am thinking I am going to make a new AoU thread of my build for that costume soon, but for now, a little update.

I shot a short video of the shield, harness, and magnet system all working together. Check it out!

My plan is to take the same magnet system and implement it to the gloves and shirt sleeve. I just need to find a good handle to use.

It would be great if you would do that, please, so that I can steal, er..."borrow" more of your always great ideas.

BTW, fun video, and a nice heroic stance at the end !

If you do proceed with an AoU build, please be sure to post the link here.

lol thanks! So far the only thing I have done was update the shield harness to have the mix of leather and fabric that we see in AoU and make (modify actually) that jacket to have a Cap like feel from AoU. I made those to wear to the premier locally.

Here are a couple pics of the jacket:
IMG_8120.jpgIMG_8125.jpgIMG_8129.jpg

The patch(es) are a base of aluminum tape colored with red sharpie and craft foam for the A.
The jacket is just a navy blue military style coat I had and I added red and white details to it. I used ribbon to do so. It made it super easy to sew them in place and I dint have to worry about folding under the edges since it was already bound. I used the same ribbon as the fabric details on the harness. I am waiting on thinner brown ribbon to be back in stock to give it more of the layered effect we see in AoU. And I just wore my comic style winter soldier Cap t-shirt under the coat to the premier. My friend came as fem Hawkeye, but this shot doesn't show the details on the front of her shirt.

Hey, I know you mentioned where you found your helmet but could you post a link? I've been trying to find one for my Cap cosplay and cannot find a good helmet anywhere!
