My "Budget" ESB DL-44

Re: My "Budget" ESB DL-44

Since I'm on the topic of bothering everybody for advice, anybody have any help with painting on the scope lettering? Mine was a resin cast, and most of the pictures I see of original scopes have the rear lettering painted in white:

I never really thought about painting it on mine because the letters are so small, I wouldn't even have a paint brush small enough for me to be comfortable attempting it. Plus the letters aren't super indented on my cast versus an original.

So, I guess what I'm asking is... anyone got any miracles up their sleeves? :lol

White wax crayon. Rub over the lettering and wipe off the excess, then seal with a little matt clear coat. Or you can melt the wax and drip it over to give the lettering more of a gloss look. This reduces the chance of the smearing the black if using white paint.

You need to get some black paint down that barrel. It looks odd as it is now. I would also recommends a small section of pipe or tube that matches the barrel so that you have a little extending out. See here: http://www.partsofsw.com/dl44hesb.htm

Good catch. I didn't see how that stood out until you mentioned it, and now I can't not see it. :facepalm

Cool Build. Your Blaster looks fantastic :cool

Thanks!

Never had much luck with the white crayon approach, so I paint my scopes....I go partial fill as I'm replicating wear. The brass look is rub n buff

That'll do for now:

Boy this way a pain. The lettering wasn't very indented so it took more work than I was expecting, but I guess it'll look faded:

I was perusing the electronic bay when I came across a scope decal that didn't look half bad. Anyone tried something like this before, or have an opinion?

Its for an E-11, but that's the scope I'm using on my blaster anyway. The sellers name is trooperbay. For $12.50 it seems like its not a bad deal, so I may spring for it, unless someone has better idea I'm not thinking of.

Hello Farrellk08 !!! I'm sorry that I'm bringing up this old post but I have the same Flash Hider that you used. I've been wondering how I was going to deal with the opening on the business end but your picture has provided me with a simple and workable idea. Now I just have to find a tube that will fit properly. So far a trip to the LHS has only gotten me a set of 3/8" tubes that are a bit too "loose" !!! Hopefully I can find better soon.
