Hi,

Last week i purchased this bat belt and really like it but Im not sure who made it or where it's from. The belts your average urethane set up but the belt buckle actually opens and closes like the film. It's made of resin and parts of aluminum. its not a fully metal deal so im not sure if anyone here knows where this belts from? a special run? or some kit?

here are some pics :)

KUH KAWWWW, that's my bird call for some help on locating the origin of this belt :) has anyone ever seen one of these? cheers.

Not fullly metal, so it's not a HenryWayne piece. I remember one or to people trying to do this before, but can't remember who. The red on the back of the buckle doesn't look familiar.

Have you posted over at Brotherhood of the Bat? Chances are it came from someone that is/was on that board.

thanks for the tip! Il try and sign up to that forum to get some info. I was actually wondering if it was a member here who may have made these. although not metal, it is rather sturdy and hold up when i wear it. :)

Nice belt! Never seen one built like that. DO you have better pics of the mechanism perhaps?

That design is tough to make work solidly.

Hi Nick,

here's a pic of the mechanism. Honestly, it's tough for me to tell how this works exactly. from what i can see there's a rectangular magnet? in the inside which is covered by a round metal housing inside the buckle which is part of the round center tab. the other side is pretty empty with just a circular tab at the bottom which sits under the small rectangular block in the other side of the buckle.

it sounds as if it would be flimsly but this thing locks into place and is tough to open.

I think it was a member of the BOTB that went by Jawa5 or something similar. At least he'd been toying with something similar for a little while. Aside from he and Henry I haven't personally seen anyone else attempt it.

Matt? Not that I know of he wasn't. Goes by the same name here.

Hey Finhead, I know for a fact Matt had been working on one a long time ago, possibly before Henry even did his. Don't know that they where ever finished or released, he's just the only other one I saw attempt it...

Thanks for all the feedback! what do you folks think this belt is worth? is it rare in a good way? I know i got a great deal on it but putting a good value amount on it would be great :)

Hi,

This is indeed one of my belts. I only let maybe 7 go so this is really a rare belt. These pre-date the HW belts by at least a few years. I shipped these out in August of '05 just before DragonCon. I encouraged people to get gold instead of yellow as the yellow was extremely difficult to match. The clip mechanism was designed for me at a local machine shop by some guys who worked for NASA so the clip mechanism is awesome. If you ever get rid of it I'd love the chance to purchase as I don't own one. If you have any questions or anything leave them here or shoot me a PM.

SO glad to see this thing again.

wow Matt thanks so much for giving me the info on the belt. The locking mechanism is probably the best part i love about the belt, it's really well made. to know it pre dates the HW is awesome! thanks so much for coming in on this thread! I will PM you if ever decide to let it go for sure!

No problem man. I remember putting these things together it was such a pain! You really do have an awesome belt. It usually gets looked over because Henry did such a spectacular job, but do take good care of it!
