Re: My 1st Replica Property
If anyone seriously cares, for scale reference:
The base is 2" thick blue insulation foam cut to a disc 11-1/2" in diameter.
The track is standard HO Code 80 with every other tie removed which was hand bent to a radius of aproximately 5" to the outer rail.
The tall side of the outhouse, erm... tool shed, is about 4".
The door is 3" high.
In the rail hobby such things are refered to as 'pizza' layouts, because you can transport them in a pizza box. Some pizzas grow mountains and then I guess they become cake layouts. The purpose is just flex ones modeling skills in scenery and rolling stock with a quickie micro-layout where you can let the trains roll just like the one under the Xmas tree when we were kids, and to hell with prototype operations.
It was built over a weekend last January, which if you know me makes for an astounding amount of progress in a 48 hour time frame. Done a little bit since but mostly I've drifted to other things entirely (much more like my normal work style)
The plan was to build a small trestle bridge under the gap and line the sides with thin castins of stone. There should be some manyana posts supporting the lean as in 'I will build them manyana' and short stretch of fence built board by board, all under the shade form a large handmade wire armature tree. Each piece carefully placed to break up the 'roundy roundy' effect.
It was built in Gn15 which is 1:24th scale, for G Scale industrial and mining trains running on 15" narrow gauge tracks.
I'd would have embelished the original dollhouse themed post with more pictures including some 1:24 scale figures whose paint I am actually proud of, but I have misplaced the lousy USB cable for my camera.
Heres' one with the HO loco I'm planning to mod to be the G scale engine but its was taken over bare foam before I accidentally spilled Woodland Scenics mixed turf all over it.
Maybe when I get those other pictures loaded and the shed painted I'll post some more.
