Well, I can already see the cannons have a slight 'Toe-In' problem. :D ( Best square that gear away boys... ;) )

Let the nit-pickin' begin...

Thanks for the pics. Since it's just a prototype, it's hard to pass any sort of judgement on it. I'm actually really excited about this Studio Scale.

Glad i got a Salzo hero kit while i could, dont see what the fuss is about lol. What happened to the moving S foils, canned ill bet.
Nahh, itll sell for way too much and its way better seeing CC and Salzo kits taking form, is it me or does the nose look wrong on the MR?
Lets just hope Richard paints the master and saves it from just an average replica :lol

I'm sure that by the time they make all the refinenments it will be beautiful, and they are off to a great start for sure...

I know we cant judge the placemnet of the peices as it was quickly thrown together AT the toyshow by the staff. But the details look nice... but in the end a peice is only as good as its paintjob and finishing. I want to see lights... amd moveable wings.....

Moveable wings would be nice.
Something not easily done on the Salzo model.

Give it time you guys. This is a direct pull from the one supplied for study. We and I mean several of us have donated parts for the mastering process. Just like with the Falcon, real kit parts are being harvested to used for the detail. Those damn Sea Labs and 1/15 Bandai parts are expensive kits to get :cry
It's going to be a very nice piece. And all that are involveed love this ship so it will be great.

The "prototype" shown at Toy Fair is an assemblage of original cast parts to give a representation to the industry of what's to come. It is in no way indicative of the final piece, as the actual master model is still being worked on.

The X-wing MR are making is indeed a new version. Built to the dimensions of the original body parts we were supplied with, it is an all new beast, created from original kit parts assembled onto a new body and wings. It's being built by the team who created the AT-AT and the Millennium Falcon. It will have opening wings and lighting effects for the engines and cockpit as previously announced, and will be released in the livery of Luke Skywalker's Red Five.

Opening as in "purely mechanical" - you open and close yourself, or opening as in "servo controlled"?

I'm excited.

Oh - and mounted from the butt plate or the bottom?

Wonderful news.

I did not expect lights too.

I had figured it would be pretty much like the Y-Wing.

Trust me....the painting of the Xwing is in good hands ...

Are they using reference pics better then what we have available on the net of Red 5?

Or did they get to examine the actual Red 5 model?

Anyone know?

Cuz I sure would like to see them too :)

As you probably know, Red Five was repainted into Red Four. We have pics of it as it stands today in the archives. And the paint master is in what we believe to be VERY capable hands.

A few knew. Everone else is feverishly taking notes.

No one believed Stevie N when he posted OH so long ago....

And he is too far above jumping up and down shouting "TOLD YA SO.. TOLD YA SO.. TOLD YA SO.. "
