MR TOS Enterprise - new pics

Hell, someone send me a dish. I'll do em.

Hey I am all in for a run of metal dishes if anyone does it. My antenna is crooked, as well. :(
BTW, my secondary hull has some large grey "weathering" streaks like you are describing, too, Treadwell.

How about a metal deflector dish? I know they sold one for the 22" ERTL cutaway over at Federation models. I really want real metal.
[/b]

I am all for that.

I thought about going to machine shop and asking how much, but I expect quite a bit for just one.

I'll probably try to make a dish myself but it'll be a while. My lathe/mill is in storage in preparation for moving.

I never tried to put on the dish before I packed my E back in it's box, so I don't know if I have an alignment problem or not.

Great retro photos guys.

That is brutal, you really should send it back. Shame on MR for sending you that POS. :angry
[/b]

Agreed. That is way too much to expect a customer to accept.

So is it reasonable to say that the overall quality of all the MR TOS E which have been received
is significantly below that of all the MR Falcons? and if so does anyone have a reasonable explanation
for the difference?

I see the MR antenna dish utilizes "my" discovery from a few years ago, that there was one raised and one engraved line. :D

Not sure that's true. There are a few issues with my Falcon as well but since the model represents a beaten up "piece of junk", any blemishes just blend in with the overall ouvre.

I don't think you can really compare the two ships. Pretty complex pieces both of them. I'm still very impressed by the electronics in the Enterprise - especially the engine effect. I think they really hit it close to the mark on that. If I were MR I would just put a person at the end of the line with a small bottle of touch up paint. Could of fixed about 90% of what little problems have popped up.

Really on both the Falcon and the Enterprise I think MR did a very good job.

Still haven't received mine, and I had a dream last night that I got it, it was perfect....

And I dropped it on a concrete floor...

Anyway - Who's up for a community "Botany Bay" group project?

"I thought you no longer had the dreams, that you no longer saw the strange lodge which moves through the sky"

And a less contentious question - ie has anyone who ordered not get his yet?

doh. saw Campbell's post right after posting my question.

The only thing that would make me send this baby back is a crack or lights that do not work. Speaking of which has anyone here swiveled the E on her pedestal while light and had the power go out?

No, and I swivel it a lot when shooting it.

Artman, I know you hate to send your ship back. I know what she must mean to you, and all the waiting is brutal, but from my reasonably extensive information hunt accross many, many forums, threads, message boards, my opinion is that the one you currently hold represents the bottom quartile of all the ships MR has shipped.

The off-center grids, the blotchy clear finish, etc. With that particular ship, odds weigh fairly heavily in your favor that your replacement ship would be substantially better. Just one man's humble opinion...

I'll offer this piece of advice one more time. If you can take the immediate financial hit, order another one from MR (who has them in stock and ready to ship now) or a dealer you trust. Compare the two ships together once you have them both in hand. Do it four times if you have to. Always keep the better ship. It's hard to imagine getting one worse than you have following that practice. Just make sure you always deal with authorized MR dealers.

Ringa,
If youÂ’re lights are staying on while mine don't then that is the straw that broke the camels back, and so itÂ’s going back.

QuiGonFishing,
Thanks for your over-view and comments here, it has helped pry this model from my clutches. I have taken extensive pictures of this particular model and I will be judging the next one against those as well as others posted here. Wish me luck.

We get 3 shots at it according to MR. The 3rd I think they will only do a refund.
I think it is wise your decision and you have gotten good advice here.
I had to wait seven weeks for my replacement, and it was better in some key ways, a little worse in other minor ways. But at least all the lights worked.
So be prepared for a possible wait. Replacements are warrantied for 30 days.
I still am watching closely what others are getting, I will order another if I think I can get an A grade ship.
I consider what I have now a B.

I am prepared to wait as long as it takes to get one that reflects the money spent. The one I now have looks good front, sides, above and below, the back is (as you have all seen) quite sloppy, that is a major issue and NOT one that an expensive item like this should have. The other issues were minor, the grid and the misaligned windows below the bridge I was prepared to live with. There are no problems with blotchy clear finish, but the "touchy lighting" issue is something I can't live with.

I positioned it for a photo-shoot and spent a good 5 minutes trying to get it to light up, checking the cords, connections, swiveling it about to and fro, pulling it off the pedestal and then back hoping for success. Eventually it did light up but its touchy . . . and we know that's no damned good.

Sent off the email to MR and so when I get their instructions she goes out the door. :cry

Being in the same boat as CD, my first had a lighting failure so it was returned, my replacement has chips and a gap at the back of the saucer section, those were not present on the first one, however based on everyone else's experience, I am keeping this this one in the risk of not having one period.

Being I paid out 1800.00 for the thing, I would rate mine as a B-.....

Interesting point. On the other hand how many people returned the Falcon? not many that
I remember, whereas this thread has several examples of people returning the E due to
poor quality.

I received mine and the shjip looked pretty much perfect - a couple of very super-picky nits, but the lights did not function. I hated to send it back but what are you goanna do if the lights don't work and you paid so much for it... I'm REALLY hoping the replacement is as good as the first "model"-wise. As a static Model it was absolutely awesome... but not worth over a G... with the lights working it was definitely worth the moola...
