Nice shooting, Artman (in more ways than one). Good color and lighting––very nice. She don't look flawed from here.

Thanks guys. Yes she does photograph well and those pesky flaws don’t even show-up. Everyone who has seen it so far (even non-trek fans) look at it in amazement. When I mumble something about irregularities and blemishes and point them out they look at me incredulous, roll their eyes and say “are you kidding?”

Yea the thing is freaking amazing and I agree with QuiGonFishing, one could wet oneself in amazement when this thing is seen in person..

So should I keep it? Well I need to mull that over for a second or two :unsure . . . yea you could force it on me . . . no absolutely I think sheÂ’s a keeper. :D

MR did an incredible job with this replica; sheÂ’s fit for static display in the best way one could imagine and under the lights before the camera there are no flaws she performs as well as any studio model could. She is in my view a proud replication of the 11 footer . . . what a fine acquisition she is and dream-come-true for this guy.

That's what struck me... this model NEEDS extra-bright museum quality lighting (or if you will, stage lighting) in order to show it off to its full capability.

Once you hit it with the right lights, and the shadows start filling in under the saucer, and the glare takes the edge off of the window lights and grid lines... it gives you a chill at how much it resembles the "real thing". B)

I just wish the base were more subdued and museum-y, and not the cliché delta shield symbol... I mean, does MR use Imperial Cogs and Rebel Whateveritises, as the bases for the Star Wars ships? :unsure

I like the all black LE stand better than the gold/black stand for the SE. I'm kinda glad they did the Starfleet logo because the CC Klingon D7 is coming with the Klingon logo for a stand, which I will paint flat black to match.

What a display they are going to make together. I'll get some black velvet to put under them, perhaps drape it on the wall––oh, the possibilities. Of course, I'll have to clear an entire wall to display them in a "face off" configuration.

Agreed.

I plan to have a shallow rectangular black perspex 'box' built with a hole in the middle.
The supporting pole will fit through the hole, and the back of the box will have an opening to access the switch - as I plan to display the bird's right-hand side. A case can then be fitted over this.

On another note - the two central lights below the bridge are not central on mine either. Checking pics others have posted I've noticed this on other replicas.

ThatÂ’s a great idea, as I look at mine (right now sitting across from my easel) it rests on a chest of drawers, I put that black 40th Anniversary card board sheet from the packaging behind it . . . looks good . . . but your idea I like, that's how I'll do it as well.

That is one sweet shot... I would love to see more like this.

I still want to do a Enterprise Klingon D-7 confrontation pic when my D-7 is done.

I want to have them both firing at each other at point blank range with just some of the Enterprise shields in front going up taking part of the hit.

Artman that is the first image I have seen of one of those models were the window lighting does not appear blue. In all other pictures of each and every one of those MR models, the windows appear to be blue.

Warm white LED's look photograph like incandescent lamps. I've got a whole baggy full of them and know where to get more, Karl.

A thought comes to mind...

Aftermarket mod kit possible?

Precut inserts to fix the hanger innaccuracy. (this is stupid simple but hey)
In scale Galileo shuttlecraft with decals.
Another deflector dish that we can paint with metallizer for a little better appearance then the stock one. Just doesnt look right to me.

Anything else?

How about a metal deflector dish? I know they sold one for the 22" ERTL cutaway over at Federation models. I really want real metal.

I am all for that.

I thought about going to machine shop and asking how much, but I expect quite a bit for just one.

Lynn, Yes I'd like to take a shot at a battle scene, unfortunately I don't own a Klingon D-7 model. Perhaps a collaborated effort would see a way around that problem???

Karl,
I think my tinkering with the colours in Photoshop had something to do with the warmer look in the ships lights.

Anyway I've been working on another image it's nearly done, may be posting it sometime today.

Actually that's ThomasModels that made the statement about the LEDs... he's just pointing out (to me) at the end that he has a supply of the warm white LEDs.

Howard, you wouldn't have to cut a hole to access the delta shield base's swtich.. just leave the original switch in the ON position, and put a SECOND switch on your second, rectangular base, to control the power going in. :D
