^ I think people overall will be pretty pleased with it.

I really don't think there's ever been a nicer mass-produced run of the ship.
[/b]

Aaahh, Just a point here. Nobody's seen a mass produced anything yet. :unsure

These are all just prototypes and masters.

I'll hold my applause until I see some come out of boxes...

For a young company with tall expectations to fill, Master Replicas has done quite well. They've had their share of missteps, but given the task of coordinating engineering and manufacturing across the world I think they done quite well.

One thing I'm hoping for is that the new revival of Trek movies in 2008 sees a new release of the TOS phaser again. One that has the original more accurate engineering specs that Master Replicas created, but somehow was modified slightly in production. And i wouldn't mind seeing the original Enterprise in that movie too. I don't think we need new designs or updated anything. Do the 2008 movie with the original prop and model designs. That's what I want to see.

There will always be some nit to pick, to be sure... but I'm very confident in the engineering... and the overall paint will be terrific... for those of us who could care less for "mint in the box", a little modification ehre and there might make it the perfect thing for you.

Case in point... Sideshow's 1/4 scale Han Solo... so close to perfect, that all he needed was a little mod to the paint, sculpted glvoes and voila... perfection - - for ME.

I'm betting the MR 1701 will be such a beast.... very close to perfection right out of the box... with maybe a little tweak here and there to make each individual happy.

That being said, it is a lot of dough to drop on something you might need to mod... but it's so much closer than anything I could scratchbuild... and way better than an out-of-the-box kit... that I ain't complaining.

peace and luv,

As dazzling as the nacelles lights and fan blades are,
I cant help but wonder why MR is not putting something up on their web page to show them off?
They should have a video. The only video on the net that I know of is the one I personally took at Comicon. Most people who see the video of them in action are amazed and I am sure many will make the leap to purchase after seeing them.

You would think MR would want to take advantage of this to sell their product and would be a no brainer.

I suspect they are having no problem with sales.

I hope its a big winner for them, love to see more TOS stuff.
I wonder how they are selling so far?

They used to have that little counter on their stuff letting you know when the edition was running out - I really liked that what happened to it?...

The counters are a double edged sword. If a product is selling fast they can add impetus to the sales from people fearful of "missing out"... However if a product is a slow seller, they allow people to believe they can hold off ordering till later and so slow sellers become EXTREMELY slow sellers.

Yeah well if it hurt sales I guess it had to go... I did like it though...

Been too quiet on the TOS E front, at least for me.

Will MR bring anything we havent seen yet to the big Trek convention in Vegas this month?

Any production pics to share?. There's still a bit of a nag in the back of my head about those darn grid lines....

I thought I had read from Barry that the grid lines were not going to be on the production model. Maybe I am mistaken? I hope not.

On that note,... absolutely hope to see current pics.

Kuhn... Barry did INDEED say that... and I do trust the fella to be truthful... but that little voice in tha back of my head that warns me not to want anything too badly is speaking up.

I'd love to see production shots... or test pulls... or whatever.

Barry?

Let me see what I can do about pics.

But trust me. There are no scribed grid lines.

Kewl...thanks Barry. Can't wait to see the pics.

Good call 'rh'. The question reminded me this was still a possible issue. My mind has been jelly-filled lately..lol. It's good to know that MR is on pulse with the collector for the most part. I enjoy their pieces very much.

Baaaaaaaaa--- Rrrrrrrrrrrrrryyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy...?.?.?

Anything to share, pally?.?

pretty please.?

Sorry folks,

The latest sample from the factory left for the big Star Trek convention happening this week in Vegas before I could snap pics of it. Doubtless some brave members here will snap it and post some pics.

I'll shoot some when it gets back. There'll be an extensive piece on the making of the Falcon and the Enterprise in the next edition of the Replica Report which will be in CS members in boxes late September (hopefully).

Cool. Anything different about it you know of from what we have seen already?

This one features (I believe) the production lighting effects with the correct diffusion on the ends of the nacelles, also with the correct fan blade artwork. It has pencil grid lines on the smooth (YES, SMOOTH) saucer :D, and the same gray green paintwork with the tan weathering as seen at Comic Con.

Hope that helps.

Barry

Awesome. thanks for the news. Sounds like people are going to blow a gasket once the pics start coming in.
Somebody, anybody.....get some video of the nacelles. (Bonus points if you can get it with the other Big E (Elvis). )
