MR TOS Enterprise - new pics

Well, it's just if you scaled up the MR to eleven feet, those pencil marks would become pinstripes. They're just too thick, and I wouldn't know how one WOULD be able to pencil them in at the properly scaled thickness.

Before I sound too negative, that's my only beef. The lady looks beautiful.

It almost looks, dare I say, removable? :D
[/b]

It is. Or rather it is one of the parts (the deflector dish being the other) which you have to assemble onto the model when it arrives. They are shipped off the model to prevent damage.

I can't tell from the pics, is the dish metal or plastic. (Crosses finger for metal.)
[/b]

Sorry, but the dish is molded ABS mounted onto an interior metal support structure to prevent long term sagging.

I know it's accurate, but that sort of weathering paint scheme on the top of the saucer almost makes the big E look like she is rusting. Hard to rust in space. I wonder what someone was thinking when that was done originally? Still, she looks great. I can't tell from the new pics Barry - but any changes to the delta shield stand?

Not rust.

The TOS E has whipped around suns and enterered time warps, fallen into 20th century earths atmosphere, experienced extreme hull heating mulitiple times, passed through giant amoebas, battles with Klingons and Romulans, maybe her powerful shields create a field around the saucer that discolors the hull, plus she had Apollos giant grubby hand on her. etc etc.

So I think she bares the marks of a space veteran.

Hey Barry...would you be kind enough to post video of the production version on your YouTube space? I am dying to see the lights on and engines a goin' in regular light and darkness. Thanks for the photos by the way.

Will the windows below the bridge be corrected?
They are all a bit too high and on the same level.
The older proto pics had proper placement.

Here is the studio model...

I was looking thru an old book about special effects that my dad has (he has tons of old books from the 60's-80's), and i found a picture of Jeffery Hunter holding a 3ft model of the Enterprise with Gene R. I've never seen it before, has anyone? If not i can scan it and post it...

Honestly, I think any nit picking at this point is pointless since these pics are from the production model. This is what we will be getting, they aren't about to go back and retool anything. Although I think the degree of line weight on the grid lines might be adjustable depending on the technique used to apply it to the model. But I don't think we'll see any re-tooling of windows or hull shapes or lighting placement etc. I suspect these beautys are rolling off the assembly line as we speak. Or at least I hope so, I can't wait to get mine.

the ship looks fabulous... these little nitpicks are SO minor... considering what this is... what the price is... how much research went into it, and the pedigree of the researchers... we're very lucky.

Thanks Barry...

What is odd is the windows were correct on one of the older prototypes.
Of course all must pass through the great filter of Hong Kong production.

Nit pick?
Star Trek fans?

It's a hella dope job they have done.
I couldn't have even dreamed of this product made available before MR tackled it.
I sniffed at the unobtainium and passed. Too many things wrong with that one even before the bad news started coming in on it.
I figured that was the end of such products and that people would never want to sell high end TOS stuff again.
Make no mistake, MR took the risk and put in the effort for people like us.
I don't forget that. I know that many of them are people like us.

I think we all appreciate the hard work and expertise that has gone into this. That doesn't change the fact we are all really really really fussy and nitpicky. :p
