MR Stormtrooper blaster....ok for a mannequin?

I have a chance to get a MR trooper blaster for pretty cheap right now (I hate my modded Kenner blaster), but the thing is...will my mannequin support the weight?

Here's a pic of my TK mannequin (still a WIP and I need to move him to different spot in the room):

Ugh...I hope it's not too heavy for it...:confused

well that would all depend of what your mannquin is comprised of i guess. Store mannquine, pvc, wood, etc??? How solid are the arms attached to the body??

The mannequin's made of hollow fiberglass from what I can tell (it's an altered Store mannequin). I used some bolts, latches, etc to reconfigure the arms to a gun holding pose. I'm thinking I may have to reinforce the arms a bit to support it (the blaster weighs 30lbs!??)

Oh well....I guess I'll take the plunge and get the blaster. :eek

I believe the MR blaster weighs 7 pounds or so. The "30 pound" weight thing is its shipping weight. Dont ask me, cant make this type of stuff up.

Put a hollow or resin scope on the MR in place of the one it comes with, and the weight will drop considerably. I had taken mine apart, and the scope is solid and very heavy.

Its gonna be close. I think it also depends on the "fingers" you have on the mannequin and how well/tight they close around grip and stock. I remember someone had a Fett with thick wire fingers and it held a resin rifle pretty well.

Definitely not 30 pounds for the blaster. That's closer to the weight of an MG-34.

I'd give it a try.

Thanks for all the help guys. I've gone ahead and took the plunge into getting a MR blaster. Not a bad buy at $250 shipped.

My bet is it's gonna be too heavy. But I'd get one for $250 shipped!

I have a MR E-11 and it is pretty heavy/solid. I would think that you would have to reinforce the arms to hold the weight. If you want an exact weight I can get that for you tomorrow.

Yeah, I kinda figured I needed to reinforce the arms. Hopefully, that works. Just let me know how much the blaster weighs if you can. Thanks Snake!

Well sorry for the delay on weighing the MR E-11. I tried to use the scale at home and it did not work so no exact weight. I thought that it would register but no luck.
I would definetly reinforce the are to support the E-11. I dont believe that it is 30lbs but it is heavy.

Just an idea for you. There are conversion kits you can buy for the Kenner E-11 to make it look a lot more up to par. Might not make it trooping quality but for a manequin I would think it would be just fine.

It also will only add a very small amount of weight to the gun overall. Some of the guys in our Garrison have made them up and they are realy lightweight.

I have held several of the MR E-11 and I would say it has to be 8-10 pounds easy. My resin and fibeglas version is lighter but still in at like 5 pounds.

Going the Kenner conversion kit should only run you like...$50 aprox, so if anyone knocks this thing to the floor it is not going to be a heartbreak and will be easily repaired. You drop an MR from the manequin height, my guess is you are going to be crying the blues as it will likly shatter depending on what kind of floor it hits.

Check ebay for the kits, easy to asemble to your Kenner Blaster. If you dont have any luck, send me a PM as I know a gent who might be still making them out my way.

Yeah, I actually bought one of those for my kenner blaster conversion kits...but still...just didn't feel and look right to me. I only use my trooper for a display now (along with my vader display). I used to troop in it when I had my FX suit but only a few times (once at a halloween party and my office halloween party).

Anyhow, I got my MR blaster in today (along with my JB V2 ESB Vader helmet....Christmas came early for me :love). My trooper has no problems holding it. I plan on reinforcing the arms later this week so it can hold the gun up a little higher.

I hear you on that with the MR. Man that would so sting, and yah gotta know you would see it happening and be that 1/2 inch away from catching it just before it hit the floor. :sick

Luckily, I only paid $200 shipped for mine. ;) Of course, it only came with the gun itself.

But yeah, after reinforcing the arms (with some bondo), it'll far more stable. For my hands, I'm using some heavy gauge wiring (I got the tip off Dented Helmet) so no worries about the gun slipping out of the hand.
