MR CloneTrooper Helmet ARRIVES !! PICS !!!

Anyone can do the math.  The MR is too small.  Period.  Dot.  But it looks good on a shelf.

Every single pic I have seen of people wearing any fan made EP3 buckets so far too date looks like a bobble head and has been waaaay too damn big and way out proportion to the wearer.

Not to pick on Mantis's special Ops suit, his great and well done, but his fan made helmet is way to big for him and looks off and out of scale, including White Commandos.

White Commados looks good and very well done and I'm not knocking that so please don't take it that way, it just looks like the size of an FX helmet sitting on the armor, it is just too big, period.

The pic posted of a person actually wearing the MR proves it is NOT too small and is correctly propotioned.
Pics linked from Rebalscum....

If this looks like a kids helmet...?...
[image]http://www.wackychimp.com/uploads/MRclone.jpg[/image]
He is either a teenager or one small adult..... and by his posted size "I'm 6'1" and 215 lbs" he is a big guy and this helmet fits him to a "T"...

A kids sized small helmet this is NOT.

How about taking a screen cap of an actual trooper, and a shot of a fan made trooper outfit with a MR bucket on, and a fanmade bucket on, and compare that way???

To me, the MR looks to be the correct size

when i watch ep. 3 and see the clone helmets all i notice is that they are practically the same size as an actual head. I remember thinking wow that might be a tight fit. look at the scene with them holding the helmets while not wearing them. they are small.
They should not be expected to be anywhere near the size of the large interior of the FX TK helmet because the FX helmet is very large. A real TK helmet had virtually no space, and would have even less if it was padded as nicely as the MR clone. also keep in mind this shouldnt even be compared to TK helmts in the first place cause that doesnt prove anything.
Remember: MR had access to 3d models of the movie helmet, and used them to make this helmet. they most likely had access to the dimenisons that the helmets were supposedt o be in the movie, or at least comparisons to 3d models of suits or something.

If MR wanted to make this helmet accurate, they had to make it small, and in my opinion, the smaller and tighter the better. They look like they could actually be worn in combat.
If someone could post some movie reference shots you could see my point

OK, here's one of those whacky "bobble heads" for comparison to Kid Clones or to show how small the MR looks on real people.

The MR is still 12-15% scaled too small. I never thought I act like the RPF zealots over the most minute details, but I guess minute is the key word (and paint). It's 12-15% too small and I love it (knowingly). Wasted enough time here.... I won't start up the one about the Earth not being flat, one tizzy a day is enough.

I dunno if this makes a difference, but Temuera Morrison is 5'7" according to IMDB.com (which is actually 2 inches shorter than Mark Hamill, too short for a trooper indeed)

Anyhoo, he is a short to begin with and add to that he may have a small head.
I can't recall where I read it, but I am certain I read that his head was very small and and there were some issues in the making of his helmets.

You can not compare sizes of movie screen caps with real life shots. There is so much distortion in the movie from environment effects and filter effects. IF you are going to compare a movie clonetrooper you need to have the hard copy helmet next to a real filmed used stormtrooper helmet. NOT a GF/FX trooper or a clonetrooper helmet built on a FX base. You might as well start putting a Don Post and Rubies helmet in there to compare with. Do you remember the MR Clonetrooper next to the MR Stormtrooper helmet at CIII? Clonetrooper made from CGI models and Stormtrooper from a scan of a REAL movie used Stormtrooper helmet.

There is also something no one has said anything about...vacuum formed plastic (stormtrooper) vs fiberglass(MR Clonetrooper). How thick are the walls on the MR Clonetrooper? Not the padding..the stormtrooper movie helmets had no padding like the Clonetrooper does.

Temuera's height is correct, but if Mark Hamill is 5'9 then I'm a real life Jedi. Mark Hamill is 5'7

I still don't understand what the basis is for the "too small" argument.
The truth is ILM scaled down the heads on the CG clones unrealistically so they'd look good in armor and not so "bobble head". Compared to average human proportions they are pin headed. I recall MR stated their clone helmet is actually upsized a bit compared to what a movie accurate helmet would be just to make it somewhat more realistic.

Fan made helmets are huge, the armor is probably pretty big too so the MR might look small on fan armor. That doesn't make it "wrong" or "too small".
The MR is accurate to what we saw on screen, no fan made clone has accomplished that yet.
The fan made chins are huge, visors are the wrong shape, tube stripes are wrong, ear proportions are wrong etc. Too many little problems to count. They are still pretty cool looking, just not that exact since they had to be done from scratch.
Maybe someone will have to make another fan made version that has the correct proportions like the MR, but a little larger to make it more wearable.

PS - I believe technically the clones are a bit taller than Temuera.

10% scaled up, from what I don't know, if I remember correctly so that it would fit to a human head and there were needed liberties taken on the head opening for a real person to fit in it as well.

I think it was Steve or Barry who chimed in with this info way back when around C3.

Here is me with another crummy, fan-made, helmet wearing clone... 2 weeks prior to Halloween at Dallas Comic Con.

wcandredshockclose.jpg

In truth, this clone brother cancelled his MR order after receiving the order from the inferior fan-made helmet maker. You know, he sucked really bad and I had to tell him to take his helmet off since everybody was like "OOH, OOH, TAKE A PICTURE WITH ME....." all the time.

Well...no promised MR helmets were present...just these...fan-made pieces of... "This is where the MR tools can chime in about their superior product... OH wait, I hear coins falling into pockets....ka-ching.

MR Pawns Say...

"OOOH, They are so perfect."

"Most people won't care that the paint matches the troopers on Utapau better than Felucia." <--That is fricking HILARIOUS......

"OH, we had trouble with our first plant in China, so the second plant had trouble and painted it wrong...oh well, we still think it is perfect."

This topic was feeling chilly, and it needed some wood.

I still find the defense of MR, and their failure to deliver a product as promised ... so very disturbing. AND the defense of MR so un-objective. If I had put down $350.00 and change and waited for this thing for half a year...I would be on fire.

GLAD I GO FAN-MADE...

Light me up....or defend me. Make a stand or cower to the "Great Vendor and their Tools."

John, Blunt and Honest...to a flaw.

PS - Tim, You have a pair....and my admiration.

You apparently joined the wrong forum.

For future reference, this is the REPLICA PROP forums, not a custuming forum.

*edit

You're taking offense when you shouldn't be. :confused

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Boy.lol

I have to agree with WC on a few things. After all this time and the paint is still wrong. Yeah the size might be off, but whos going to troop in a LE hemet? To me the size dont matter (run with the joke guys :lol ) She will look great on the wall, but not my head. Just hope the other two are right.

That explains it, they got the plus and the minus sign backwards, kinda like the rocketeer width.

It's wrong but I love it just the same. Long live the PinTroopers.

and your definetely nto making any friends here with that type of attitude... Hows about you stick to the version you like, and let others stick to the version they like, and just let the bashing end??
