MR Assualt Phaser Delivered!

Wow. Very disappointing. I have been a steadfast MR fan through all of the legitimate criticisms as well as the plain ol' bashing. I have been happy with everything I have ever gotten from them (happier with some than with others, of course). My TOS phaser is my most prized possession.

These photos give me a pit in my stomach. I will not get mine for another month or two, as I'm getting it through BluFive. I still want it, but I sure hope it doesn't have the out and out defects I am seeing in some of these photos.

EDIT: One question, does it have the ident badge on the bottom of the mag?

It does, raised part in dull red and inset graphic and lettering in black. I'm not sure what the plate should say but it has,

NCC-1701
ENTERPRISE
070

Shouldn't have been NCC-1701A?

BTW, I've been in contact with MR CS, waiting for an answer and yes, I sent them the photos.

I think it should have been NCC-1701A.

Also, shouldn't the starfleet chevron and text on the ID plate be in white?

Guess it doesn't matter when you've got a "STARTREK" phaser. :lol

Sorry to hear this Jim!

I am seriously thinking about cancelling my Tricorder from them now

Did it look anything remotely like this pic..with regard to design and color?

Ah ,so much for that painstaking research, exact in every detail bull.
We spare no expense in our R&D to bring you the most exact prop replica money can buy.

the NCC 1701A will be on the elite edition.

I pulled it back out of the box just for this.

Roddenberry.com bottom clip plate on the left, MR on the right.

NOTE: While I had it out again and the shock of how bad the finish is had wore off I did realize that the top cowl and rear section are Zymac, you would just never know it with the finish that’s on it.

I still have the pictures from the toyfair where MR displayed the prototype and the plate on the bottom looks exactly like the one from Roddenbery.com and does not look anything like it does on the garbage they final came out with. It even has the NCC-1701-A on it. I've always wanted one of these and was thrilled when MR final came out with it, but this is a piece of you know what.

Can you post them?

I held it at Toy Fair but didn't snap any pictures.

If this is what MR has done with the Assualt Phaser, I dread to think what the Tricorder is going to be like when it finally arrives. It really is sad to see how far MR has fallen.
That's my worry as well, because I'm really looking forward to the tricorder.

Ok things are looking a little better......is that acceptable to this crowd?
I don't think so. The materials at this point are irrelevant, it's the overall quality of the piece that's lacking. Sure, there's production issues to consider, but there's also the price tag. Based on the pictures, I think I can safely say that this thing is not worth five hundred dollars.

Indeed.

And glad I went with a forum dealer here and reduced cost.

But I am anticipating cleaning this thing up and fixing some issues already.

Here are a couple of pictures of the prototype from the Toy Fair. The finish and the bottom plate look a lot different from the final production piece. I can't believe they would change something that much from the original prop and the prototype!

Thanks!

That's what I remember, that's what I was expecting. I've put the question to CS Tom over on the MR Forums as to why the big difference between the Toy Fair prototype and the production piece, lets see what the the official party line is on the subject.

Should be interesting.

All these pics should be posted on their forum.
