This thing is over a decade old now. I put it in storage last year and got it out today to take pics of.

The color was one I custom mixed. It's just that cheap craft paint you can get at any Wally World or Michaels, but it's low-odor acrylic and shoots well out of an airbrush when fresh.

I left out the HARRR-ible Vader figure that looks like he's takin' a double-duker on the can....

There is some light weathering using pastels. Panel lines on the ball are scribed in with a dental tool and enhanced with mechanical pencil.

Looks good. You cut out the glazings?

Heh, for me. Assembled kit and not a freaking shelf to display. I got sacrifice a lot of my aircraft books to make space... but my Gundams booked the space already...darn. I need a bigger house.

Anyway, good to see your nice built up. Not overly weathered, not exactly showroom clean and colours looks sweet. Inspires me to finished up mine.

^ I did leave out the glazings ( glass ).

I was aiming for a studio miniature look back then even though as we know the ERTL X-1 is a little bit over half-scale.

As for yours...git busy, Yo and finish.

I had forgotten about that.

It still looks great after all this time.

Thanks.

Yeah....I babied it.

This one I bought in Bath, England back in 1990 when they were re-issued. When I saw it, I just had to have it. They weren't yet available in the States again at that time. I brought it back with me on the IKE and then it sat for 5 years until it got built.

I had one before it. An original issue from '77 and '78 that I and my friends played the hell out of as a toy. Of course, it got destroyed.

After-Action reports cited 'wing failure' as the main cause of its demise. :D

Otay. Will try to get few out asap.

If only the TIE is the same scale as this Varthy's X-1.

Double duker LOL. [/b]

Don't you hate when those happen? :D

The ship looks great.

Thanks.

Even an ERTL can be made look ay-ite with a little elbow-grease, love and cheap paint.
