Movies you thought you'd love but wound up hating..

I saw a thread for the opposite situation, but seeing as how I think negative thinking is more fun... I figured it would be interesting to create this one. So what are some movies that got you excited with the trailer but you wound up hating after seeing them?

(Everyone is entitled to their own likes and dislikes, if you loved the movie that someone else hated there is no need to get offended)

For me it would be:
Dredd (loved the original, hated the remake)
Spectre (not really a Bond fan but I love Christoph Waltz so I was excited, only to find that they really didn't make good use of his talent at all.)
Prometheus (for oh-so-many reasons)
Terminator Salvation (was a big terminator fan until this movie)
Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (Oh god why...)

The list goes on, but those are the ones that come to mind at the moment. So what did y'all hate?

Lucy. So hyped when I saw the trailer. Awful movie. I have a feeling the new Ghost in the Shell movie is going to follow the same cycle as Lucy did. Look decent in the trailers and be awful on release.

The Matrix Reloaded
The Matrix Revolutions (This doesn't really count because after Reloaded I knew this would suck.)
Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy
Robin Hood (Russel Crow version)

Return of the Jedi
Spectre
Avatar
Conan the Destroyer
Moulin Rouge (I love musical theater. I love Bollywood. But this sucked.)
Man of Steel (how can you possibly mess up the Superman story?)
Last Year at Marienbad (pretentious crap)
Beyond Thunderdome
A Christmas Story (it's really not that good)
Batman ('89)
Iron Man 2
Willow
Matrix Reloaded/Revolutions

Couple more entries for my list:
Matrix Reloaded and Revolutions
Iron Man 2
Iron Man 3
Age of Ultron

From the top:

Alien 3
Alien: Ressurection
Robocop 3
Chappie
Elysium
eXistenZ
Dune
Terminator Salvation
Star Trek V : The Final Frontier
Cowboys and Aliens
Prometheus
Star Wars : The Phantom Menace

There are others, but those above are the ones I rmember for the cold gripping despair I felt watching them and the thought that so many millions had been spent on producing such disappointing scripts from often iconic original films and stories.

Iron man 3
Superman returns
valhalla rising
age of ultron
2012
Saat po long 2 (killzone 2)
in the heart of the sea
The hobbit trilogy (hate is a big word but wasnt as good as lotr. Prob to do with the overuse and quality of the cgi)
Conan remake
Hercules (dwayne johnson)

Just some i can think of atm altho for some hate is a big word.

By no means do I hate this movie but I'd really like to add: "Hail, Caesar!" had one of the best trailers I've seen and the film did not come close to being as good as the trailer. I know it's a bit recent but...

Jurassic World. Even with a simple concept, and Pratt's charm - poorly written, poorly executed. Hated it, yet had strong hopes before hand.

Deadpool was ok though the jokes were too obvious and forced.
Jurassic World was so bad I turned it off halfway through.
Crystal Skull was a huge disappointment.
Drinking Buddies was awful.
Let's be Cops could have been better.
The Godfather was decent but there was a fist fight with James Caan that was outright laughable. I hear the 2nd or 3rd is the real gem of that franchise.
Though I denied it for years, The Phantom Menace, Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith all sucked pretty bad.
Cedar Rapids.
Captain America: the winter soldier
X-men 3
Spiderman 3
Man of steel
x-men: days of future past
The amazing spiderman
The Hobbit trilogy was a huge disappointment
The Boondocks Saints was cool when I was in my early 20s but seeing it now it really doesn't hold up. It's very immature.
The Matrix is the only good film in that God awful trilogy because the Wachowskis stole the story from another sci-fi author. She won the lawsuit too and the Wachowskis wrote the sequels.
Michael Bay.

I took the day off from work to be the FIRST in line for the first showing of the Phantom Menace, because it was Star Wars and I was going to be first!

I think you all can imagine how screwed I felt!

have you seen some of the other threads? that seems to be the exact opposite attitude these days ;o)

usually if I go in hating something, i'llhate it.. if i go in loving something i love it.

I can't really think of one off the bat that i'd thought i'd love that i hated.

the only thing i thought of when i saw that movie was 'blah'... we've seen the ending of it before and the explosion wasn't anywhere near as exciting (kind of felt half finished to be honest)...

I try to go into any given movie perfectly willing to leave loving or hating it regardless of my opinions prior to seeing it. Even though I'm still sometimes biased, overall there are plenty of movies that surprised me (positively or negatively).

And since I'm already posting I might as well add a few more to my list:
Spider Man 3
X-Men: Last Stand
Hercules (Dwayne Johnson)
Elysium
Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance (I actually really liked the first Ghost Rider, but the second one is almost unwatchable).

Totally forgot about Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, that was more depressing than The Phantom Menace. I almost wanted to cry after KOTCS that's how disappointed I was.
M. Night Shyamalama-ding-dongs last three movies.
Anything Adam Sandler has done after The Wedding Singer.
