Movies with Twist Endings *Spoilers Obviously*

What are your favorite movies that have surprise or twist endings?

I was stunned at the end of The Prestige, definitely in my top five movies. I also loved The Usual Suspects. I am not good at guessing the end of movies before they make the big reveal so I am surprised 90% of the time.

*If there is already a thread on this, I apologize. I didn't find one.

For me one of the most unexpected movie endings was from the movie "Frailty", It was an outstanding move and i recommend it to everyone.

Oldboy...

hope Spike Lee doesn't screw up the remake.

& Identity. Did NOT see that coming.

Nice. I haven't seen any of those movies but I plan to this week.

Memento was also very good. Christopher Nolan loves the twist endings. Even though The Dark Knight Rises had a weak twist (if you even want to call it that) he is very good at them. Can't forget about Inception. The whole movie blew my mind...

Does Chris Hemsworth take his shirt off in it? If the answer's yes, it's going straight into the Netflix cue! ;)

Haha. You know, there is a thing called google images. You are more than welcome to look at his shirtless bod anytime. :love

Nope. Of course, this movie was shot in 2009 prior to Thor (which was shot in 2010), so he's not as big or as built as he was in Thor. He's playing a college student, so he shouldn't be expected to have a godlike physique anyway.

Agree with Prestige, excellent film, great twist.
Having not read either of the novels the movies were based on I thought both Shutter Island and Life of Pi had great twist endings I didn't see coming.
The original Planet of the Apes had a good twist too.

Anyone catch a little gem called Dead Again? Directed and starring a young Kenneth Brannah. Just blew my socks off when the twist hits. Also another one in my top ten as it were: Malice with Nicole Kidman, loved that twist.

I watched Source Code the other night, thought the twist at the end was cool, but for me, the ultimate "No Way!!" plot twist factor goes to Jacobs Ladder. Not my usual sort of film, but I highly rate it.

Jacob's Ladder is one of my favorite films. :) The whole thing is a pretty good "mind ****," and then the twist at the end just takes it to a whole new level.

No Way Out, a spy thriller with Kevin Costner has a great ending. One of the few times I never saw the twist coming before the film reveals it.

Fight Club's twist was well done.

I also have to give credit to M. Night's The Sixth Sense. Despite the fact that I figured out the twist ahead of time, I appreciate the film more on repeat viewings where you see that the film doesn't cheat at all -- it cleverly makes you assume that Willis is interacting with characters when he really isn't. It's too bad M. Night proved himself to really only be a one-trick pony, because this film was really good and it's too bad that his later over-reliance on gimmicky twists kind of taints this one.

The original Planet of the Apes had a FANTASTIC reveal / twist.

I enjoyed the twist at the end of The Game the first time I saw it. It doesn't hold up well on repeat viewings, however, when you realize just how contrived the whole thing is and how much it depends on chance.

Man, do I have a lot of movies to watch now.

Also, Saw had an amazing twist. I don't think anyone saw that coming, like, at all.

Return of the Jedi. The Evil Galactic Empire defeated by little bears!?!?!?!!! MIND BLOWN.

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Though the twist was more in the actual explanation for the weirdness you already saw but didn't understand.

Citizen Kane. Rosebud!!
