Motor Cowboy boots

I contacted him once and asked why the shipping charges were so high he said because he has the boots made some were else and then shipped here I think it was Thailand he said. So he might be paying these guys a very low wage. Just my two cents.

Hello to you all, My name is Robert Maddux and I am the current owner of Motorcowboy. I have only owned the company for about 3 months. I bought it from The previous owner, Jim Evans, who was dying of cancer and has since died. The last 12 to 18 months before his death, he was not able to spend a great deal of time and effort on the company. I have really focused on improving quality and service. While there have been some issues, I have been very progressive in making customers satisfied when there are issues. Please read the comments below from one such customer.
I have a business partner who make the boots, he is a small family owned business in Thailand who only makes boots for me and I only sell his boots, It is a joint effort. It is not a cheap factory in Thailand, It is a craft shop. As far as taking care of my customer, if there is a problem with the boots, and it is our fault, I fix it. I have owned a number of businesses and I stand by my reputation.
I hope to have the effort to work with you in the future. Please feel free to call me if you have any questions.

Best Regards,

Robert

I will get you Joey's email if you wish.

I know different people have various opinions about this company. I feel compelled to write a review. I have purchased from them in the past. I bought my Adam West style Batman boots there and was pleased with the quality.

I had recently decided to buy another pair of boots... Mad Max to be exact. I contacted them and asked for some changes in the product for accuracy in details to the movie boots. They absolutely complied and got the details perfect for no extra cost.

The boots arrived and I was thrilled!

Then I put them on and the fit was not what it should have been. The sizing was just slightly off and they are made to measure. So, I contacted them and asked what could be done. They said return the old boots with some MORE detailed measurements than what I had already sent and they would fix them.

Well I shipped them and when the shipping company asked what the value was I told them. Well, Thailand's customs seized them and was charging Motorcowboy the same amount that the boots cost as an import tax. It did not matter that the boots were from Thailand originally and being returned...

After much wrangling and efforts by me, DHL, and Motorcowboy we were at an impasse.

Here is when they showed me their true colors. Motorcowboy offered to simply make me another pair. They really are stand up guys and are doing right by me... even though it is a loss to them.

So, if you ever thought "is it worth it?, are they reputable?"... I say yes.

Before anyone asks if we tried this or that... we tried it all... I am just giving you the "short" version. I even offered to pay Motorcowboy the amount that Thai Customs was demanding to release the boots... they (Motorcowboy) would not take my money!!!
The replacement boots arrived last week and they are a perfect fit, I couldn't be happier.
Good and honorable is my opinion.

Has anybody purchased any boots from Custom Boots by Motorcowboy ::The Home of Prop Replica & Custom Boots - Made to Your Measurements ??

I've been looking at Custom Boots by Motorcowboy Battlestar Galactica Boots Prop Replica for a while now and can't decide if they're worth it or not. I'm more or less gonna be using them for general day to day use. Looking at quality, comfort, cost, etc.

I've also been toying with getting Custom Boots by Motorcowboy "Rocketeer" Boots Accurate Replica for an eventual Rockeeter costume, though I ride a scooter so they'd get common use as well.

I've owned a pair of Motorcowboy KISS boots and they were really nice. I don't know if that helps...just my personal experience. P.s. I live in Atlanta too and i know an amazing boot maker right here in town.

hmmm.... I'll definitely do some thinking on it. Another question came up regarding boots. Anybody ever seen a place with some boots akin to what Daniel Day Lewis wore in There Will Be Blood? I've scoured the interwebs looking for some and can't really find any that match the overall look of the ones he had.

Look here.

BIG BLACK BOOTS

The grinders or wesco look pretty close. And they say they can do limited alterations.

I own a pair of Anakin boots I got the first year they started doing them. Was the only ones duin them at the time. My advice IF going with them is to be very specific in what you want and with your measurements. If you're looking for the boots you posted try Magnoli. Great guy, he's on the boards here.
Though a bit pricey he carries a pair called Explorers that look good cept the soles don't quite match tho I'm sure can be rectified with a few E-mails.
Explorer Boots
Bet you could find a pair on the bay for cheaper if you look hard enough.

Just my 2 cents

I would also say that the prices are too high and the accuracy is wanting. I would not buy from this vendor. There are other less well-known vendors that have more accurate products at way better prices.

I can't speak for the quality or comfort though.

I remember when I introduced Jim Evans to the RPF after finding his custom riding boots on eBay. I prchased a pair of Obi Wan boots for 100.00 (though it took a while seeing as how he sent me these wierd foam foot boxes so that he could get an exact fit. The boots came and they were too dark, but I was able to lighten the color using a little acetone. The fit, strangely enough, was never quite right. The leather was just a little too tough. Still, it was the only game in town so I settled. I think i went back to his sight a couple more times in the first few years and I just recently wnt back.
GOOD GOD! I was shocked to see how much they were asking for how innacurate the products are. I scoured to find one pair of boots, ANY boots that were accurate. Couldn't find-a one.
Sad, really. They have the potential to be the "go to" place for accurate boots for serious costumers, many of which will spend the big money for accuracy. It's obvious whoever is in charge of design is not 'getting it' but only making what he thinks he sees and how quickly they can turn it out. :unsure

Same here,

I was interested in his panther batman boot but $400 + $78 shipping WOW!! that's almost $500. I found a highly reputable place locally that does custom boots and shoes for professional singers, actors ect....and can do a pair for $300, these are all made in shop not Oversea.

I have worked with both Jim and Robert. I have found Robert to be very good with customer service and I find that their pricing is on par with CA Boots. As for accuracy I can't really speak on it, but I DO know that they can make you almost anything that you need.
