Modifying a jumpsuit...

I'm working on a TIE Pilot and Boba Fett costume. Now that it's COLD in Michigan, and working on hard parts outside is no longer an option, I'm moving indoors to work on soft parts.

I just picked up a couple of 100% cotton jumpsuits off the shelf. Lenght wise, they fit great. They need a decent amount of modding, like fixing the collar, removing/adding pockets, etc., but they are a great base.

My biggest concern is it's a little too roomy in the body and legs. I'm thinking of just ripping the stitching up the sides, and taking it in a bit. Does this sound like a decent route to take? I have decent sewing skills, but have only worked from scratch. I've never tried modifying an exisitng piece.

Any advice???

Thnaks!

I've modded Dickies coveralls to tech & TI ones.. stripped the rear pockets and used them to make the shoulder & compad pockets. I've only taken them in from just above the knees down and added stirrups, but not taken the waist or anything else in..it's all pretty straightforward..sounds like a good cold weather thing to do! :D
