Model Stand Source

I'm looking for a base to mount my model on. I do not have any woodworking tools besides a drill.

I plant to drill a hole for the brass tube, glue it to the base, and run wires to the battery on the underside of the base.

The base would ideally be wood, beveled, and have a hollowed out side that could fit at least the height of a CR2032 battery.

Do you know of any source for such a base?

A few years back, I made this Battlecrusier from Starcraft. Here is the final model with base.

So heres a few pics that might help with an idea. All I had was a small little hand saw, and drill.

From there, I covered it with styrene plastic.

Ended with it all covered and glued together like this.

So that might help with some kind of an idea, and where you can have space between the wood and styrene for a battery. Maybe make a type of door, to open up to get to the battery.
Hopefully that helps spark an idea for you.

You can pick up inexpensive bases/plaques from Hobby Lobby or Michael's.

Getting one hollowed out, on the underside, would be the challenge. Time to invest in a router?
