You need to do your research with this topic on rpf sir.
As a newbie you may not be aware of the history surrounding this prop, use the search to now find out why it is the way it is. And if you had, you would very well know why some members are walking on thin ice with there membership to rpf.

Rassilon, you're stirring the pot because a Cantankerous Twit caught you doing something you shouldn't and called you out. Water under the bridge. Let it lie, ok?

You do realize that it really is...just a prop. The history is in fact made by us (the fans)...and most of this fighting was caused by YOU and CELESTIAL TOYSTORE. So, regardless of where I receive my point, I am not emulating him. I have never even met him, nor have I bought any of his sonics. The first time I came across his replica was at a convention, and it was the best one I'd ever seen. And I only really follow him because of the quality. I have not tried to bash you or any others who have quarelled with him. However, you decided to be deliberately rude to me.
I am not a newbie either. This is my favourite prop in the franchise apart from the laser screwdriver, which has failed to make an appearance in any form of a replica, beside the one owned by...I think it was Karvsta.
So, don't act like I've just pulled up my pants and began posting about it like I've only seen it for the first time, show some respect to fellow fans you ******.

It always ends the same way, thread gets locked and then moves onto another topic and it start all over again, with the same personalities having the same battle over a different topic on the same prop.

I have never seen a thread were they post any support for anyone trying to have a go at making the same prop as ct, it always, that’s wrong and then with out fail they start referring to ct, always, and then who ever has some manufacturing capabilities get driven off by there harsh postings.

Just so they can have the only say. If phez sees it one way and you see it another, so what, he still will continue to make it how he wonts to make it and should not be attack on here for it.

No one was attacking anyone's build. We were discussing ridge shapes. This was an adult discussion until you decided to sling your oar in and creating a conflict when there wasn't one. Go away and don't antagonise. You need to learn some basic manners not to mention some proper english.

Forgive, but I feel you just said I'm attacking Phez, like CT has made 3 accounts to attack you and Phez. I never once told Phez to stop trying or give up because I believe there may be something superior. I am trying help him (I can hear scoffing already) because the sonic he has now is great. CT is getting paid so his research is towards a product. Phez is doing something completely different and I am trying to help improve his replica.
Stop making a song and dance about it and stop striking up the same arguement.

Not taking about you

If it's ok I would like to go out to the workshop and finish some props that I have been working on.

I want to be clear about something important here: I feel that, in this thread, Phez has been attempting to prove a preconceived notion rather than have an unbiased look at the evidence presented. HOWEVER, I think that both he and Anakin Starkiller have made excellent Sonic Screwdriver replicas and would never do anything to discourage them from continuing to do so.

No one else here is making any attempt to discourage their efforts, either. The only thing people here are guilty of is persisting in their futile attempt to convince the other side of what they perceive to be the accurate features of this sonic. We are Democrats and Republicans, voting on party lines and unwilling to change. All of us. So the whole debate is pointless and it would be great if everyone could stop.

I did get fed up with Phez making ridiculous excuses for everything, so I blew my top and went all ranty a bit. I have trouble with the willfully blind. But I respect his efforts and, honestly, I would show it off to people if I owned one.

A while back, in order to figure out what I was seeing with the various reference pics I have of these two sonics I built 3d models of the grips for the DT sonic (The one that Tennant now owns) and The 11th Hour Sonic. Here is a comparison of the two models I created.

And this is what my two models look like set against each other, which I think does a good job of illustrating the differences between the two props

Aleenes is a very difficult paint to apply. The top crackle is as thick as molasses and doesn't really run (if you apply too much and it does run, the crackle wont set on the sonic and your paint will just flake off). So although the paint layer will possibly thicken up the grooves a little bit, it won't fill them and since for the paint to go on at all it must go on uniformly the machined profile and the finished profile after painting should match fairly closely.

If you look at the sonics I posted in this tread
http://www.therpf.com/f9/some-new-pics-my-10th-doctors-sonic-152961/
you will see what the finished sonic looks like which was made with this model.

When I compare my finished sonic with the model I started with, I don't really think the paint makes all that much difference to the shape of the ridges

Here's the ridges highlighted as being slanted.

Right, but look at how that same model looks from this angle --I kept the 3d colors consistent for clarity's sake.

and I think you'll see what Phez was talking about when he wrote
" if you look at the reference photos we can see that the same handle looks like edges are fairly symmetrical in some shots and looks asymmetrical in either direction depending on the angle the photo is taken at. So the question really is are they cut straight and the handle in reference to the camera is causing the distortion. Or is it cut weird and the handle angle just happens to correct the asymetry in some photos.

All three cases are clearly shown in this set of photos. The first one looks like the ridges are almost perfect. You can see it looks like groove is wonky in either direction in the bottom photo. As a machinist would you assume it was cut strait and photographed funny (my assumption while working on this) or that the groove was done wonky and just happens to look almost perfect in some photos."

As I'm trying to illustrate with the above pics. Although I wouldn't call the grips "symetrical" since they were hand machined, filed, and sanded to have an organic look, the angle that the grips ridges are viewed from has a big difference in how that "asymmetry" looks and which direction and to what degree the grip ridges slope.

Actually, forget that.
I was right about the ridges. A photo pf the MFX replica ligned up against the real prop shows the innacuracies. I can't upload it, I'm using my iPhone.
