Michigan Prop Party 10/1/11

Re: Michigan Prop Party Interest Thread

It's non prop related but I can donate tickets for the raffle from Go Comedy! Improv Theater in Ferndale. I might even be able to get passes or coupons for anybody paying the entrance fee. what kind of turn out did the previous parties get?

Re: Michigan Prop Party Interest Thread

I have quite a few of those freebie movie posters for District 9 and Zombieland.I think they are like 18x24 I'll bring those . First come first serve.

Re: Michigan Prop Party Interest Thread

Does anybody have a preference on September vs October. Like Gator Fett said September is a busy month so the 17th would be the best day for that month. Or does anybody think it might be 2 far away?

Re: Michigan Prop Party Interest Thread

If it was to be October I would make it early October but I have no problems with 9/17 date.

Re: Michigan Prop Party Interest Thread

Ok well for the time being I'm going to push for September 17th. Sorry that it's 6 months away but depending on how much I need to put up in advance I will need that time to get everything into place.

Re: Michigan Prop Party Interest Thread

I'm from the west side of Michigan and Sept. 17th sounds good. I should be able to make it and maybe I'll drag a few other west siders with me. I should be finished with my ArtPrize entry by then and I can bring some pics of my build. I'll probably bring a few other steel projects that I'm working on...at least the smaller ones.

Re: Michigan Prop Party Interest Thread

Sept. 17 sounds good.
October is usually our busiest month for the GLG.

Re: Michigan Prop Party Interest Thread

Hard to say.
Many of the GLB members are also 501st members as well. We have a pretty good amount of crossover.

Re: Michigan Prop Party Interest Thread

I'm excited for this; not sure what my work schedule is going to look like but definitely will keep it open to get to this

I'm west side in Sturgis 45 mins south of Kzoo.

Re: Michigan Prop Party Interest Thread

I did that one year with a pretty darned good prize and some person that just stopped in won the prize and didnt even know what the heck it was-- they were headed out the door and heard their name being called--

Isnt that the way it went Outlander?? sumthin like that anyway.

Might need some kind of guidelines to qualify for a prize.

Yeah, that's what happened. That was a generous prize, too. I believe raffles are more trouble than they are worth in these situations. But what do I know?

Re: Michigan Prop Party Interest Thread

I'd be down again. It's been far too long! We've had 4 Michigan Prop Parties so far in 3 locations (Warren and Sterling Heights). When it was brought up again a few years back, Dullam mentioned he could bring the Tumbler if it was close enough range to him. He is in Kalamazoo, and at the time the Lansing area was brought up on the board here.

At the previous parties, we normally had people come in from Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, and Ontario Canada.

Re: Michigan Prop Party Interest Thread

ok little set back but nothing huge. I met with the banquets department today and somebody booked September 17th earlier in the day. Available dates are September 3rd (Labor Day weekend and Dragon Con), September 24th (Detroit Fanfare Convention), and October 1st. All of these dates are Saturdays. They are holding September 24th, and October 1st for me but I have to let them know soon so they are not holding both dates. I'm thinking October 1st but if you guys want a different date now is the time to speak up so I can hold it for sure.

Re: Michigan Prop Party Interest Thread

I might be interested in coming if it ends up being at least as far south as Ann Arbor.
Anyone making the trek from Ohio is looking at about a 4-5 hr drive time depending on how far south it is.
Plus if it is really south, it would make it more available to those in Indiana and Illinois as well.

.

Re: Michigan Prop Party Interest Thread

October 1st sounds decent, since I'm going to both Dragon Con and Detroit Fanfare. :lol
