Michigan Prop Party 10/1/11

Re: Michigan Prop Party Interest Thread

I will most likely be bringing some 5E stuff and Star Wars like my SGB McQ TK and Fett.

Re: Michigan Prop Party Interest Thread

Don't forget his Adonis DNA. I'm sure Matt will be there. It's only three hours.

Re: Michigan Prop Party Interest Thread

If you have a party be prepared for:

1) No one will stay after to help you clean up except JediTeddy, Mr. Fett, and Cutest Sandgirl.

2) If you have it in Utica, you should have had it in Lansing. If you have it in Lansing, you should have had it....

3) Which ever weekend you choose, twenty people will post that a different day would be preferable. Ten of those people weren't going to show up anyway.

4) If you have a raffle, somebody's child will cry like you just shot their dog because they won a Jar Jar Binks figure instead of the Yoda toy they wanted. The parents will glare at you for traumatizing their little angel. How dare you give away stuff?

5) If you ask for a donation/admission of $5.00 to defray costs, no matter how many times you post that fact, people will be taken by surprise. If you don't charge at the door, some RPFers will try to rabbit when you finally do try to collect.

6) If you don't serve food, people will complain. If you do serve food and charge for it, people will leave and hit nearby fast food. If you serve food or drinks for free, some fat swarthy dude will stand by the bar and chug a free can of pop while complaining that last year's food was better.

7) Last year's party was always better.

8) The more work YOU do, the more YOU pay for, the less of themselves people will have invested in the party and the less they'll appreciate that there is a party at all.

Grrrrrrrrr. :angry Grrrrrrr. You kids don't know how good you've got it, what with your Licensed props and your loud rock and roll music! Cut your ponytail off hippy, put down that electric twanger...and get a job!

Let somebody else put the party together for you. Leave early and skate the bill. Go with the people you liked to Dave and Busters' and get drunk.

That's my advice.

:lol

Why Jeff, you sound kind of jaded there-- wonder why?? LOL

good to see you are still around!!!!!

Re: Michigan Prop Party Interest Thread

I helped clean up as well set a a few times... Man, they get so jaded they forget, Hmmmmph. :lol

I thought Jeff did a terrific job of them but yes, you are not going to please all of the people all of the time, better be prepared for such as well its a sacrifice to do so. Jeff was an incredibly gracious host, should someone else take this on, they should be prepared for the issues he has noted.

Re: Michigan Prop Party Interest Thread

Yes, Tripoli was great help at the last party, also the one the year before.

All of the RPF children had fun with Mr. Tripoli's lightsaber duels and the remote controlled dancing, chirping R2D2.

Tripoli was also immensely popular at my daughter's Halloween party. Trip is a very fun dad and kids love him.

I'm the sort of dad that prospective sons-n-law will dread. A creature of a horny adolescent's nightmares.

I'm okay with that. :lol :lol

Re: Michigan Prop Party Interest Thread

Are ex-Michiganders invited? I have lot's of family in the Detroit area and if the timing works out, I would love to go.

Re: Michigan Prop Party Interest Thread

For as far away as it is, if we start getting dates and whatnot.. An attendance fee shouldn't be bad. I guess it really depends on how many want to come and all. I understand things arn't free and I am completely up for a fee. I don't think it'd be a 'quality' party without one :confused and I'll help clean up :angel

Re: Michigan Prop Party Interest Thread

I live in the lansing area and would be more than willing to make a drive as well as help clean up...this would be my first ever such outing and I would love to attend

Re: Michigan Prop Party Interest Thread

I talked to my banquets department here and there is no room rental charge, there would just a charge for food based on the number of people. I have a sit down with them this week to get some menu options so I will update with that as soon as I find out.

Re: Michigan Prop Party Interest Thread

Wow no room rental would free up money for other fun things. Are you part of the Great Lakes garrison . Maybe getting some costumers to come could be fun. I'm just saying and if there is anything I can do to help just email me. Amishhitman13@gmail.com or pm and I'll give you my number.

I am and I can pass the word on once some of the details get worked out. There are several GLG members here, but none of them have posted in this thread. Our event calendar is pretty full from now till August, so the date picked here may or may not gel with the GLG availability.
