Anyone know anything about the cool looking metal mal FIRFLY pistol up for auction? It looks very cool, and with QMX taking thier sweet time getting to the serenity pistol, might be worth it, eh?:lol (it's expensive!)

Wow, that's a beauty. I'm not sure about its source (though the name moffeaton sounds awfully familiar...), but the box with purple velvet lining reminds me of Phil's metal mal setup. The price is similar, too.

Boy, I know QMX doesn't have the Firefly license, just the Serenity one, but that phrase just makes me dream of what could be.

Converting the QMx pistol to a Firefly version wouldn't really be a cost effective way to get a replica. I believe they are just a plated resin, so you'd end up having to re-paint it thus ruining the plating, it'd be far cheaper to track down one of Phil's casts since they were made off the real deal.

Actually I believe the QMX gun is now going to be cold-cast rather than plated, now that they've switched manufacturers. Buuut anyone can correct me if I'm mis-remembering - and besides, it wouldn't make the conversion a whole lot easier anyway.

If you're careful when you cut off the Serenity magazine you should be able to preserve the paintjob and would need only to paint the new magazine and some minor touch-up to the gun. I don't know what the other differences are but that one change would be enough for me.

Beside the fact that the Serenity pistol has a completeley different finish from the Firefly version, it has fairly significant differences on the body shroud too.

How can you convert vaporware anyway? :lol
