Batuu%2Bposter.jpg

Star Wars Galaxy's Edge open in one week at Disneyland and the first previews are currently happening for Disneyland CMs. They're normally not allowed to shoot pictures but you know how human nature is, so first pictures are now appearing on internet. The pics below are a selection so far and this article WILL be updated all along the week-end when i will find others pics.

Let's start by something we all love: attraction posters! Above and below, four of them for Batuu, Black Spire Outpost and the Millenium Falcon.

Editor’s Note: Welcome to Black Spire 101! There’s a universe of information out there on Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, so we’re making an effort to compile each shop, eatery, and experience into all-encompassing, consistently-updated pages filled with one-stop information. We will be updating them with all the latest information and photos from inside Black Spire Outpost. This will prove to be essential on your next intergalactic voyage to Batuu, regardless of what coast you’re on. Check out the full coverage at starwars.wdwnt.com, and make sure you pull on those yellow straps!
Everything You Need to Know: Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities

This den of antiquities is known to hold some of the best artifacts and unique items from all across the galaxy. Dok-Ondar is known for hosting a large collection of items, from the mundane items like ancient jewelry and ancient tools to rare kyber crystals and lightsabers wielded by some famous Jedis and Sith alike.

WHO: Dok-Ondar
As you explore the shop, you’ll find Dok overseeing everything happening below his desk. Whether that’s checking inventory, taking calls or barking orders at his assistants, you’ll be sure to see Dok towering over everyone else in his den. He’s known for having a bit of a temper, but if you’re good at making deals, you’re sure to be on his good side.

dok-ondar-concept-art-1200x489.png

Dok-Ondar was first mentioned in Solo: A Star Wars Story by Qi’ra as she was serving drinks aboard Dryden Vos’s yacht, the First Light. It was one of her duties to make sure that the collector was being well attended to during the event.

dok-ondar-head-900x1200.jpg
At Star Wars Celebration, we spotted part of Dok-Ondar’s audio-animatronic head on display. We can’t wait to see what he looks like in his shop fully completed.
We didn’t get a good look at him until Marvel released a series of comic books prior to Galaxy’s Edge opening that would help tie in the rest of the Star Wars universe to the Black Spire Outpost. This five part series, “Journey to Batuu” features Han Solo and Chewbacca once again crossing paths with Dok-Ondar after the events of Solo, yet before the events that occur during A New Hope.

WHERE: Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities
black-spire-map3.png

Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities is located right beside Savi’s Workshop, where you can build your own lightsabers. However, if you’re looking for ones that are more famous, rather than a unique one built by you, you’ll want to pop on by to the next shop to find some of those.

You’ll want to check out every inch of this store to see what rare artifacts from across the galaxy you might find. His shop is crammed full of various different boxes, crates and cargo, with each piece holding its own unique story. You might want to be careful with what exactly you stumble upon.

The wide variety of goods available might be purchased after haggling with Dok-Ondar. Otherwise, a rare find might be kept preserved in his den for a later date or a better offer.

WHAT: Mysterious and Unique Galactic Artifacts
A wide variety of treasures and artifacts will be on display within his den. What exactly might be available is subject to change with each new shipment into Black Spire Outpost, so it’s best to keep your eyes peeled for every new item you might discover.

Lets take a look at some of the ancient items that you might stumble upon.

First off, there’s a lot of love for the ladies of the galaxy. There’s a really cool carved statue of Maz Kanata. There’s also a Senator Amidala headdress, similar to one that she wore in Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones, that will be available. We’ve even spotted a guest wearing it after they got a sneak peek inside the other day.

But if headdresses aren’t your thing, you can find these awesome portraits and busts of Princess Leia and Queen Amidala.

There’s also a few other pieces of wall art you might be interested in picking up. This one features an intricate carving of different Jedis from Star Wars: The Clone Wars. We see Barriss Offee, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Plo Koon and Shaak Ti.

Maybe you’re looking for the perfect addition to your own seedy underworld. In that case, this sandstone carving of Jabba the Hutt in his palace would be perfect for you.

If you’re looking for Jedi and Sith memorabilia, Dok’s got you covered as well with statues and busts of all your favorites. Here we have Luke Skywalker, Plo Koon, Yoda, Mace Windu busts and a statue of Aayla Secura.

dok-ondar-jedi-statues.jpg

For the Siths, we have a bust of Darth Sidious and a statue of Supreme Leader Snoke. There’s also a few other Sith statues and artifacts as depicted here.

There’s also a variety of other antiques for both the light and dark side of the Force in his Den as well. Items like a carved mask of General Grievous, a few of Grand Admiral Thrawn’s ranking badges, and some figurines of the creatures from the holographic game Dejarik.

dok-ondar-artifacts3.jpg

For a few more Sith items, there’s a few holocrons, journals and patches. There’s also a Darth Maul bust, similar to the Darth Sidious one before.

Here we see a few more items for the Jedis. There’s a Jedi holocron and patch set, as well as a journal, perfect for keeping all your sacred texts in. There’s also a Jedi gear set, which includes a holoprojector, comlink and macrobinoculars.

As you can see, there’s white and yellow kyber crystals here. These are exclusive to Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities and are not sold at Savi’s Workshop. We got a closer look at them earlier from @thecalibae and in a video posted to Vimeo by user Lloyd Calomay.

Dok-Ondar also specializes in collecting rare lightsabers. You can find ten Legacy Lightsabers within, once wielded by famous Jedi and Sith alike. There will be ten Legacy Lightsabers, owned from Ahsoka Tano, Darth Vader, Darth Maul, Mace Windu, Kylo Ren, and Luke Skywalker. Both of Luke’s Lightsabers will be available for purchase.

A Lightsaber belt clip will be sold as well, compatible with the Legacy Lightsabers and custom lightsabers, so you can proudly display on your hip.

At Star Wars Celebration in Chicago this year, we did stumble across a rare artifact that might make its way into Dok’s den, especially given the ties that it has to the collector himself.

dok-ondar-artifact-900x1200.jpg

This Ithorian Gravestone, kept in a rather dirty display case, is rumored to be that of Dok’s parents. Though to get the answer, you might have to try to ask him when he’s got a spare moment.

We hope to see other galactic artifacts in his den, full of stories that are special to each item that he’s curated over the years.

Are you hoping to find something in particular from a far off planet or are you hoping you’ll stumble across a diamond in a rough?

PHOTOS, VIDEO: First Impressions of Custom-Built Droids from Droid Depot in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge

It’s only a matter of hours before the media embargo lifts on all things Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, so ahead of the social media flood, we decided we’d delve into another highly-anticipated interactive merchandise component of the land. We’ve gone over the ins and outs of custom lightsaber building at Savi’s Workshop, but let’s take a closer look at custom astromech droid building at Droid Depot.

Mainly because they’re adorable.

Custom droid building is sure to appeal to the whole family (or conversely, you could potentially start your own family of droids.)

Besides just cooing over cute astromech units, it’s worth noting that many of these posts shed light on many logistical aspects of the experience. Just dig through the comments. Instagram user @andydigenova mentioned that the Depot was actually out of R-units, so do keep in mind that there’s a possibility you might not get the droid you are looking for.

Instagram user @ivieanne points out the three personality chips that were currently available during previews: First Order, Resistance, or Smuggler. Also, while custom droids use Bluetooth technology to communicate with other astromech droid unitsas well as certain other elements and objects on Batuu and at Disney Parks and Resorts, it seems connectivity within the land can be unreliable at times.

Each droid stands roughly 18 inches tall and is battery-powered (AA and AAA) and remote-controlled. Controllers can also trigger accessories which can be added on to droids, like blasters and mock tools. A closer look back at the full merchandise display from Star Wars Celebration in Chicago acts as a refresher as we get ready to head into the land.

As it states on the Disneyland website, each build ($99.99) includes the following:

BB-Series

  • Dome
  • Dome Connection Plate
  • Body Sphere
  • Motivator
R-Series

  • Dome
  • Body
  • Center Leg
  • Set of Side-Legs
An additional set of accessories and attachments are also available at an additional cost, including this R-Series Serving Tray so you can make your R- unit emulate R2-D2 in Return of the Jedi.

Units come in a cardboard carrying case, but an optional backpack carrying case is also available.

Image Credit: The Dan-O Channel via YouTube
One interesting thing to note, particularly amongst BB- units, is the concerning number of videos showing them falling apart mid-roll. This may have to do with the sheer weight of the main body of the droid. Having their little heads pop off was also a common issue with the larger Sphero models also used in Droid Racing aboard the Disney Cruise Line during Star Wars: Day at Sea events, so perhaps this is just something that isn’t transferring over well from movie designs.

While three personality chips were mentioned, it’s worth noting that five different ones were on display during Star Wars Celebration. The interesting thing to note is how the droids will respond when they’re out in the land. For example, if a Smuggler droid is within the Merchant Row area, it’ll beep and boop with excitement. Similar concepts apply to the First Order and Resistance-chipped droids. A Youtube video by The Dan-O Channel explains these accessories more in-depth:

Unlike Savi’s Workshop, Droid Depot will also sell a variety of other droid figures and toys, including the infamous DJ-R3X figure we love so much.

roid-depot-custom-droid-review-may-2019_3-1200x635.png
Image Credit: The Dan-O Channel via YouTube
Themed patches, keychains, and more will also be available.

roid-depot-custom-droid-review-may-2019_1-1200x638.png
Image Credit: The Dan-O Channel via YouTube
Unlike Oga’s Cantina and Savi’s Workshop, extensive lines haven’t been common at Droid Depot, so it’s likely you’ll get your chance to build during your 4-hour reservation, but do keep in mind that these DIY sessions do take time. As mentioned above, also keep in mind that, despite Disney having years to prep for this experience, quantities of even basic merchandise items, including items necessary for this experience, are limited and may sell out during your time there. Like Savi’s, the option to purchase other personality chips can unlock even more fun. Most importantly, if you build and adopt your droid, make sure you keep a close eye on it so it doesn’t get into any mischief.

Disney Already Planning Major Expansion for Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Theme Park Lands
May 29, 2019

Unless you’ve been living under a Sandcrawler, you know that Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge opens first at Disneyland Park this week on May 31st. Well, you may be surprised to know that Disney is already anticipating success with this addition on both coasts and is scheduling an expansion of the massive 14-acre themed lands for the future.

While they have already scheduled these expansions for Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Disneyland, they are a little far off. In fact, they won’t happen until 2027, according to internal documents. This will allow the land plenty of time to grow with the parks, letting Disney figure out the role-playing elements and how to handle the crowds properly over some years. In the case of Walt Disney World, the Star Wars Hotel (rumored to be called Galactic Journeys: A Star Wars Adventure) will fill some of that time gap when it opens in 2021. It will also give the Star Wars franchise time to generate plenty of new material with multiple upcoming series on Disney+ and three new films scheduled to be released from 2022-2026.

It will be interesting to see how Walt Disney Imagineering blends future stories into a land with its feet planted firmly between Episode 8 and 9 of the current series.

Everything You Need To Know: Milk Stand

milk-stand.jpg

Travelers from across the galaxy will head to the Milk Stand of Batuu to quench their thirst with the speciality Blue and Green Milks available here. Legendary delicacies throughout Galaxy’s Edge, even Luke Skywalker himself has been known to have a glass or two.

milk-stand-map.jpg

Milk Stand is located across the way from First Order Cargo, so watch out for Stormtroopers.

WHAT: Frozen plant-based blend of coconut and rice milks
ue_Milk_and_Green_Milk_at_Milk_Stand_1023ZS_0174DR.jpg

The vendors at the Milk Stand will be serving invigorating and exotic non-dairy milk options for thirsty and weathered travelers. Most who’ve tried these have mentioned they taste akin to smoothies.

Milk Stand Menu
  • Blue Milk – $7.99
  • Green Milk – $7.99
Milk Stand is a counter-service location. Mobile ordering will be available here via the Disneyland app, from when Galaxy’s Edge opens. Jedi mind tricks won’t work, unfortunately.

WHERE: Have I Seen These Before?
Blue milk was first seen in Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope, drank by Luke Skywalker in Tatooine. Wookieepedia states that blue milk is actually the secretion of female Banthas, a large, hairy herd mammal with spiral horns. Presumably, Tuskegee Raiders drink it all the time (as does Luke, with much relish.)

Green milk, which can be seen in Star Wars: Episode VIII – The Last Jedi, was a large contributing factor in keeping Luke Skywalker alive during his exile to Ahch-To. As stated by Wookieepedia, the liquid is harvested from female thala-sirens, which are long-snouted marine mammals with flippers.

Of course, if you’re looking for a drink with more of a kick, you can always head to Oga’s Cantina, the most notorious watering hole in all of Batuu. We’ll see you there, along with some of the most disreputable characters in the galaxy!

Everything You Need to Know: Ronto Roasters

Ronto Roasters is the centerpiece of the Black Spire Outpost Marketplace and features a podracing engine that’s been converted into a barbecue pit. Former smelter droid, 8D-JB will be keeping a careful man on the spit of meats. When customers line up to order (or pick up their mobile order), they will encounter 8D-JB (and listen to him complaining about his job). Podracing fan Bakkar actually oversees the establishment.

WHO: Rontos, 8D-JB
There’s little known about this droid other than his disgruntled attitude towards working as a pitmaster. Working at turning the mechanical spit, he’s expertly grilling the large sides of a Ronto, which is a massive beast that’s native to Tatooine.

This is the gentle herbivore guests will be gladly devouring.
Rontos are favorite pack animals for the local Jawas on Tatooine, though often are seen swaying under the weight of the cargo and Jawa passengers while traversing through the desert planet.

Everything You Need to Know: Oga’s Cantina

No self-respecting remote outpost on the edge of the galaxy would call itself a smuggler’s planet without a cantina, and Black Spire Outpost is no exception.
ogas-cantina-galaxys-edge-1200x675.jpg

WHO: Oga Garra and DJ R-3X
Oga Garra
Oga’s Cantina is ran by Oga Garra, the boss of the Black Spire Outpost, known for gathering a crowd of some of the most interesting and disreputable characters in the galaxy. Oga’s not normally at her Cantina, as she’s most often collecting payments remotely and hardly ever seen by the locals around. Her patrons come from all across the galaxy to try out her famous drinks, created with “otherworldly” methods, and her collection of procured shipments of beers, ciders and wines.
DJ R-3X
DJ R-3X, also known as REX, will be providing all travelers with interesting music from across the galaxy, having given up his old job as a Starspeeder 3000 pilot for Star Tours. Turns out that the DJ-R3X droid is voiced by none other than Paul Reubens. That’s right, Pee-Wee Herman will be voicing the DJ droid at Oga’s Cantina. He previously voiced RX-24 on Star Tours, but Rex has since retired from his days as Starspeeder pilot and moved on to becoming a DJ, hence the new spiel.

WHERE: Oga’s Cantina
black-spire-map2.png

Oga’s Cantina will be located near Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run if you’re looking for a place to celebrate after a successful flight, or in need of a drink if you didn’t do as well as you’d have liked. Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities will be near the cantina as well.
Visitors come to this notorious local watering hole to unwind, conduct shady business, and maybe even encounter a friend… or a foe. Run by an intriguing alien proprietor, Oga Garra, the cantina adheres to a strict code of conduct (and a time limit) that tries to keep its unruly patrons in check. But with a history of being a smugglers’ safe haven and a popular stopping point for those seeking to avoid the authorities, you can bet that the cantina has a story or two to tell.
Oga’s Cantina is the kind of establishment that attracts some of the most interesting and disreputable characters in the galaxy. And you never know when a stormtrooper or a familiar face will show up. Patrons of the cantina come from across the galaxy to sample the famous concoctions created with exotic ingredients using “otherworldly” methods, served in unique vessels. With choices for kids and libations for adults, the cantina will make for a great stop!
WHAT: Alcoholic and Non-Alcoholic Beverages
Before we dive into what exactly is on the menu, let’s take a look at what the actual menu looks like.
na-menu-and-coasters-ebay-leak-may-2019_3-943x1200.jpg

The Oga’s Cantina menu has clearly seen better days, with weathering and jagged edges added for themeing. As far as themed souvenir mugs go, there’s a Porg mug, which comes with the non-alcoholic Cliff Dweller drink for $32.00.
Below, you’ll see the epic Endor Mug, which has a decidedly tiki-esque look to it, with earthen elements from the Forest Moon. It’s served with the Yub Nub cocktail for $42.00. You can also get a glimpse at how other beverages and snacks are plated and served, with the Fuzzy Tauntaun drink served with a heaping mound of foam, the Blue Bantha Milk topped with a cookie, and a petri-dish filled with popping pearls as Oga’s Obsession.
Another fascinating discovery is this Rancor beer flight souvenir board with four teeth as beer tasting chalices for $75.00. It comes with a sampling of craft beers.

We got a sneak peek at the coasters being offered at the cantina as well from Instagram user @sabrinalizette! One side of the coaster features a cute Ewok figure drinking out of a chalice. The other side features a cocktail with the stylized words “Oga’s Cantina” in the outline of the coaster.

For those of your curious, the Aurebesh on the right side says “Skyhopper”, which fits with the T-16 Skyhopper, a high-performance airspeeder, as depicted here.

We also got a look at a Rancor coaster that will be available at Oga’s. In Aurebesh, this one says “bloody rancor” around the top and upside down on the bottom it says, “Imported from Tatooine”. (Translating Aurebesh upside down isn’t easy, folks.)

Hey. Did we ever get told whether or not when Galaxy’s Edge opens @Disneyland that alcohol is allowed throughout the park? #ihopenot @DisneylandAP

In a tweeted response to a question regarding alcohol throughout the park, the Disneyland Annual Passholder account said that guests will be required to stay in Oga’s Cantina while enjoying alcoholic beverages. Lines for the cantina have also been among the longest for all the new offerings within the land, so plan accordingly. There is a limit of two alcoholic beverages per guest.
Do you think you’ll be able to make your way through a variety of these beverages during your time at Oga’s Cantina? Which ones are you looking forward to trying first?

Eww this video ruined the Luke saber for me. Im so sick of the fat neck. Like seriously who makes these decisions?

This is bittersweet.

It’s too bad they made it this way. It’s still a good price for a static hilt but I’ve got a couple of those already.

The good thing is this was something I was planning to buy so now it’s one less thing on my list.

The Yoda FX is proof they could make a functional thin neck yet they refuse to do it.

On top of that I own a LDM V2. I would be down grading if I went with the Disney saber. I wanted to get it to have a nice Hero version to go with my V2 but not now. Im just at this point annoyed by the fat neck.

The Yoda is no where as thin as long as the Return of the Jedi Luke so I think it’s unfair to compare. Obviously whoever is making these lightsabers are not confident in a thin neck given the resources they are allowed to work with.

In the end, it’s not a big loss for me. I’m not a fan fx. I just thought the thin necked Luke hero would have been interesting in the collection. Most of what I own I got because of a gift or a great sale. For me fx hilts are a waist of money. I rather spend the difference on more props. Now if I was a repeating cosplayer and. Lightsaber was a key component, then yes, I’d probably splurge for a nice fx.

I was not referring to the diameter of the Yoda but the amount of space they used to make it work. The gernade to pommel is pretty much 90 percent of the Yoda. That is plenty of space needed considering my Crystal Shard board on my V2 is the size of my palm.

But I'm saying this because I am an fx guy. Looking at a hilt is boring to me. Id rather experience the lightsaber. But I also cosplay too. Lol

I agree. I'd much rather have one 100% accurate than an FX version any day. (until they come out with real lightsabers that is ;))
