Medieval Batman - Historically accurate

Battle used for me everytime. New is nice but you want to install fear in people. Battle damage lets people know he is up for a scrap.

Yea, that is also my inclination (though obviously it will take a lot more time...) Also, I am trying to decide if I go battle used, should I go with shiny black anyways and just add scratches, scraps etc... Like full on deep black, or maybe go for the less shiny deep grey metal, like in dong of justice for example (for lack of a better example at the moment) and if so, how would you recommend painting it to get it to look like that?

made more progress with the sabattons!

My plane is to get as many parts cut and shaped by the weekend, and on the weekend spend time sealing them with modge podge and then coloring them! I am thinking on starting the color with a layer of silver as the "primer" layer, and then a layer of shiney black to cover it and hopefully kind of blend together to get a nice deep shiney blackish grayish tint.

Also, I've been pondering the helmet... Need to decide the right helmet type...

well, design wise it is a very beautiful design... Historically though, it is very incorrect... For starters, No one really fought with hoods, aside from looking cool they would really hamper with your field of view which for someone needing to see attacks coming from any possible angle, would be a really bad idea (especially if he does not have an actual helmet as in this design).

Secondly and most importantly, there was almost no use of actual scale armor. Scale armor would be depicted in art and stories and maybe for some ceremonial or decorative purposes for non combative use simply because it was considered exotic and strange. But from a functional point of view, scale armor is a lot heavier than say, chain mail armor and protects the user in an inferior matters since any strike coming in a down - up motion would most likely tear the scales it hits and due to the way they are attached, the blade itself will most likely get directed right between them and stab the target...

But lastly, I just really want to make a full plate armor cosplay :)

Also, here is another angle of the sabattons

Hey folks,
here is a quick progress update:)

I decided to go on the shiney new looking armor (simply because it's quicker. I can always add weathering later on, but I'm short on time for the deadline).

Here's some shots of the helmet being built and designed as I go along:

Also, I redesigned the sigil:

And also, I finished coloring the vambrace and gauntlet:

I was thinking maybe doing another final layer of modge podge coating to protect the paint... but we'll see if I have time:)

Quick question folks,
The overlapping foam pieces on the sabatons keep sticking together... I covered each with a layer of modge podge and after a day or two to cure it is still getting stuck. Any suggestions?

So here are more progress images dump:)
since these were taken, I've finished the cosplay! I'll upload great pics by the weekend after I do a little forest photoshoot:)
