Re: MCL34N's Iron Man Mark IV- pic heavy- new pics 6-29

Hey McLean,

Checkout my thread.. I found a great way to do up areas like the hip, waste, neck etc.. using rare earth magnets.

Love your suit! Cheers! GJ

Re: MCL34N's Iron Man Mark IV- pic heavy- new pics 6-29

you are crazy, man! i love your suit! i'm trying to make a suit too! but i haven't understood
-why you've used the aluminium leaf.
- and how you did the fingers and the palm. another thing: how you did the inner structure of the upper body? i have made the back and the chest with pepakura, but i don't know how to link them.
-how you can move the fingers?have you glue these on a glove?
maybe you have written already how to do it, but i'm italian and i can't read english very well, can you help me?

Re: MCL34N's Iron Man Mark IV- pic heavy- new pics 6-29

damn! i cant believe how you did it! how did you bring the measures? how did you do it without a project? i can only see a lot of piece of paper, cut in a shape and glued. QUESTION: the parts are linked with hinge or have you glued it on a jeans?

@davidemelica this project was a complete scratch build if ya look at post 97 on th' thread you'll see that he used some craft foam as a base for th' general shape then built it up using both thick and thin cardboard , he used th' aluminum foil ta help make compound curves an geometric shapes that he replicated using th' cardboard go through th' entire post there are a few pic's that show how he used th' aluminum foil ta help with th' shapes. he then wrapped everything in burgundy duct tape ta give it all a one surface look and last he painted over th' duct tape. i hope that this helps ya bra he layered th' pieces of cardboard like ya would a cake . There was no pep involved at any time just good o'l scratch building.

Re: MCL34N's Iron Man Mark IV- pic heavy- new pics 6-29

One problem I have with the outfit is that the chest is far too low. the reactor seems to be almost at the top of his stomach, rather than where one would expect the middle of his chest to be. the details of course are amazing, but this seems to subtract from the illusion a bit. for me atleast. great armor though.

I know what you mean. I actually solved that problem a little bit ago, because I realized I built my back to be stuffed by some sort of padding, but I neglected to do that when I was finished. This also allowed the chest to slide down looking too low, so after I padded that back and got a little more tension above the shoulders, The chest lifted up. This also stretched the abs out a little too. I'll try and take a pic some time to explain! Thank you for actually having constructive criticism!

MCL34N I've got a question.

How does this thing attach to you? I'm specifically referring to the chest piece. I can't clearly make out the structure of the "under armor" from your pics. I tried a cardboard chest piece and it failed miserably during wear. Both shoulders tore under tension.

Amazing work!!! I didn't know it was possible to get that much detail using only cardboard and foam! How is the mobility? I'm assuming it's alot easier to walk around in as opposed to a fiberglass suit.

Re: MCL34N's Iron Man Mark IV- pic heavy (UPDATE 4-6)

I'm just now finishing my second layer of primer on the helmet, I hope to have it all painted and ready to go by tonight, then finish the remaining work on the chest/back/arms and be done! I'll post some pictures as soon as I've covered some ground.

yo sir MCl34n can you give me some reference regarding your IM works?... i really admired it and loved it man... here is my email... much appriciated if you include the motorized face plate step by step guide on how to make one.. thx..

Hey guys, It's been about a year since I was working on this suit and updating this thread. I recently got a new mannequin and thought it would be cool to do a one year later pic sort of thing.

It's lasted a lot of wearings, though it is pretty beat up. That's just the reality of the materials I used. But it didn't break apart that bad or melt off my body from sweat like some thought it would. There's no body suit on the mannequin so you can see it between some pieces of armor. Anyway thanks for looking!

And of course, Iron Man doing what he does best-
