MCL34N's ASM2 WIP (video update 9-9)

Re: MCL34N's ASM2 WIP

Wow...seems like there's enough to go off now for you to replicate this :) although I haven't seen any good shots of the back spider yet.

Re: MCL34N's ASM2 WIP

Hey man love your work are you gonna do a new pattern liie you did for ASM from what I can see it follows a similar pattern to your ASM but the legs are different there is a seam line on the front of the leg rather then the sides which will hopefully avoid the problems some of us have with the legs

Re: MCL34N's ASM2 WIP

Yeah, I noticed that they put two instead of one. That's smart since as you can see on mine the zipper looks slightly more pronounced than a regular seam. Although no one noticed it IRL. I agree there really is enough to make this suit. I have a basic plan for how to do everything from the new faceshell, new lenses, new print. I'm just really backed up on people's ASM orders at the moment so I'm making that my top priority. Also this movie isn't coming out for an entire year, so we'll all probably get distracted in a little bit if Iron-Man 3 or Man of Steel are particularly awesome. I am kind of wanting to take a break from Spidey related projects since that's all I've done in my free time for about a year now.

Re: MCL34N's ASM2 WIP

I for one am very excited to see you tackle new projects too :) It's been a while since you applied your talents outside Spidey. Heck, I'd say you got Spidey pretty much dominated and down to a science now so I'm excited to see what you challenge yourself with next! The projects you were telling me about the other day sounded incredibly cool!

I love that last picture that Garrus (Great name, woo,Mass Effect! :D)posted. But you can really see his eyes through the lens. It's not to much of an issue but I think I would prefer not to see his eyes.

I can understand that. You did an amazing job on the amazing spiderman 1 suit, and I am excited to see what other project you are looking to tackle :)

Woo, Mass Effect!! And yeah, the eyes bug me, but I think they could just be for stunt shots or something. They seem to be mesh...

...and the return of urethane webbing :/

Re: MCL34N's ASM2 WIP

As for those zippers...to my eye it looks like the "shirt" and "pants" are actually two completely separate pieces that zip together. (Which helps to explain why there's no point on Spidey's belt above his crotch)

The small zipper running up the small of the back, then, would be to allow the suit to stretch wide enough to fit the actor's shoulders through. There should also, then, be a similar zipper running down from the waist to allow Spidey's butt to fit into his pants since the zipper wouldn't have any give to it. (Unless of course, Spidey just doesn't take after Beyonce :lol )

I know Garfield complained about how much he hated getting into and out of the suit through "the flap" and wanted them to come up with a simpler system for him...maybe the Shirt and Pants combo is that solution.

I was just thinking it was in two pieces as well. Not sure if I'd want to zipper it down though since that would totally remove all of its horizontal stretch. Maybe some hooks or snaps with some thicker neoprene backing up the fabric to keep it smooth. Also I think the crotch zippers open up the pants for putting on.

Re: MCL34N's ASM2 WIP

This is fascinating! I wish I had a better comment to contribute to the discussion, but I'm just admiring the Shelock-level detective work you guys are pulling. That makes a lot of sense, and all of these new design elements are very practical.
