Mark 46 build 3D print

That is the plan. I just picked up a new 2 part catalyst high build primer from an Automotive paint shop that I might give a go whcih is sprayed via HLVP sprayer. Curious to see how well it works.

I'm also taking a class via the Stan Winston School of Arts on line. The guy teaching the class (Fonn Davis) did all 6 star wars films, guardians of the galaxy. Interestingly he recommends using Pastikote Automotive Primer and uses it on almost all of his props. It has some sort of a really good chemical bond with plastic and sands very easy. If the 2 part doesn't work well, I might switch to the Pastikote primer based on his recommendation. Just trying find ways to speed up the process and make things easier in the final stages.

Will you use the Plastikote paint as well? They don't seem to pricy and there are many different colors to choose from so that might be an option.

After seeing this, its makes me want to start all over. Wow!

Was wondering if anyone knows what that filler is that they are using?

I honestly dont really like it. As durable as it is, as soon as someone touches it and it flexes in the least, It looses the visual appeal of heavy duty armor and is seen as a plastic shell. I think I like the thick, 3D printed suit they had created FIRST better!

Also for all those attempting the mk 46 3D print build based off do3d's files, I had them make some changes to the fingers. Ive seen a lot of 3D printed iron man fingers that feature rigid print pieces that cover the knuckles when the fingers are flexed, and shelve inside the fingers when they are straight like so. They have made those changes, so update your files! Still havent seen anything on the vents above the chest. Was thinking about rigging speakers to go in that slot to blast some ACDC and sound bytes from.

Good idea

Thanks Jamindsen, Do3D sent me the files this morning. Great idea on the speakers.

Started printing the ABS and COD. Do3D is currently updating the lower body to be a little more water tight. Looking forward to seeing the results. Anyways here's what I have so far. Chest is a little small, might end up making it again in the future if I cant get it to line up right with the back. Will have to see when its all finished.

Looks realy nice :)
I heard that the DO3D Files are completly separately?
So i think they have to be completetly watertight :) I'm excited about this Update. Will you get this? And can you show us some pictures of the new parts (watertight)

I did mark 43 from do3D the legs are usually long and irritate at your privates my friend who did mark 45 faced the same problem. The suit they make are of movie scale which are CGI and all iron man suits have long leg and it is obvious that none of the actors wore leg armors.

Thanks MarthaKent. Some of the files have been a little separated but as soon as I let Do3D know, they have been awesome in correcting and providing me updates as the build goes along. Its been pretty much been a joint venture.

As far as scaling goes, I tried using the Xkinect to scale my body via another ap. Then I stumbled across the Makehuman Ap (Free) and it thought that it produces a much more accurate result and a clean mesh. I've learned through the whole process now to scale multiple items together so that they end up fitting better when they are finished. (Foot-leg) (Chest, arms, neck, back and Abs)

Avenger XXX, you are correct, those legs on the standard 6ft whole body file are very long and definitely needed to be scaled for my body.

How hard is the Makehuman App to learn? I just starting printing my Mark 45 (Not the do3d model) but would like to scale it correctly

Not hard at all devildog.

Once you download it and open, Just go to the main tab and start your initial settings for gender, age, muscle, weight. (Do just a estimate) then go to the measure tab on the right and provide your measurements. Be aware some of the other measurements will shift when you do a input, this may take a little tinkering. But once you get all the measurements right your height (it will tell you on the left side of the screen) should be pretty close. Then from there its pretty much, save, format and export the file.

Thanks! I might have to look into it for the main body sections. Luckily the model I have came scaled to my height already. My only thing I have to lose some weight before I can actually wear it lol but no biggie.

I am in the exact same boat. Ive built a Mk 7 before and it fit everywhere but my fat butt. Im determined to be the man inside the mk 46 this time.

Which catalyst primer did you use if you don't mind me asking? Also, how was working with it compared to other fillers/primers? I'm experimenting with different filler/primer options for smoothing/cleanups.
