So far I'm working on the armor. I've patterned the gauntlet, wrist guard, pimp plate and finger armor out of paper. I need to refine the finger armor and cut it out of foam to test fit.

The sticking place for me on the armor is sintra or black worbla. I've never worked with sintra before and the tutorials range from "oh this is pretty easy" to "level 10000 magecraft".

Just draping and playing with the coat for now. I feel like it's a decent shape. I'm going to have the front flap lift up and the front of the base unzip for easy on/off. Or, I'll have it unzip at the side of where the front flap meets the under layer and just have it look like two layers but be one, if that makes sense.

First time working with worbla and it shows. I'm going to get everything put together, then possibly add a second layer of worbla over it to stabalize.

Hawke armor so far. I coated everything in a black primer + paint base, then sprayed it in a hammered pewter finish. My base armor turned out pretty smooth, but the hammered metal finish, in my opinion, will cover any lingering flaws and give it a more authentic look (I hope!). After everything is coated in the hammered metal finish, I'm going to "age" it with black acrylic, add highlights with silver grey, then seal it and start on the under padding.

wow! this is looking really excellent so far, especially for your first time with worbla! can't wait to see the results!

Darkening the "welds" of the armor. I'm going to accent with a dark metallic silver, then add a highlight to the armor body, then dry brush for age and wear. I hope it turns out.

I cut out all my leather patterns from foam and basically just freehanded them. Then I wet molded the leather and used a sewing groover to etch in lines. I used eco flo to do a base coat and I'm going to use an all in one from eco flo to finish the color off and seal it. I punched all the holes using the big red beast from Tandy that is perfect for punching corset holes and setting grommets.

I still have to do all the punching on the shoulder pieces before I can put everything together. I'm hoping to have all the leather work, aside the belt, done this week.

The eco flo all in one is AMAZING. I used the 'fudge color,' contact cement, and artificial sinew. The artificial sinew is waxy and stinks, but I like the way it looks.

I did not end up using edge kote on the armor. I do plan on edge kote-ing the strapping and the belt. I riveted the armor to the leather and added a little contact cement just to help keep things in place. I don't currently have a rivet bit for my hand press, so I used a hammer and a rock (for the anvil) and that seemed to work. I didn't do a stain on the strapping like I did on the armor so that the strapping will match Hawke's belt more than it does the leather armor. Right now I'm debating on attaching the straps with rivets or with the artificial sinew and contact cement.

Belt is almost done! The buckle was bought from FluidFireCurious on Etsy, she 3D prints them and it's way nicer than what I could make. The metal rings and leather are from Tandy. The base belt is cut from a 5oz oak craftsman side and the two inch belt is a belt blank. The edges were beveled and edge koted, then I ran a scooper around to make the lines, then ran over it with a stitch marker in case I'm feeling ambitious tomorrow. I just need to add the fur, tack the buckle down and figure out a closure.

Kind of bad angles, but I'm testing placement of the armor on the boots so I can measure the strapping. The strapping is going to mostly keep things in place, but I will have some industrial velcro strategically placed.

Boots and strapping are done, they're not actually uneven. I just don't have them buckled. I need to go back and replace all of the rivets on joints that need flexibility with Chicago screws. Sigh.

Fur trim has been glued down on the belt. Now that DragonCon is over, I'm going to go back and add the fake sinew stitching on this and the smaller belt.

These are the silver side piece things that I'm going to use for Hawke's coat sides. I'm doing a laced closure at each side just to create a functionality for those silver things.

The glove, after assembly, is much, much bigger than my hand.

I patterned the coat myself by just draping fabric. I was in kind of a rush, so no pictures. The embroidery is just small to large satin stitch. It's a black bonded leather lined with a deep red cotton sateen. The costume is actually finished, I wore it for thirty minutes at Dragon*Con, nearly died, then took it off. I need to fix a few things up, then get some actual pictures.
