Mandalorian rifle

Trying to make the mandalorian's sniper rifle, don't have a 3d printer. What are some ways I could go about creating this?

There's a NERF version of that rifle which is not too far off. You might consider starting with that as a base model and modifying it to make it more accurate.

Good luck!

The hard way would be to get good reference data to make a drawing 1 to 1 scale. Lots of tubes on the front, so possibly you can get plumbing pipe or electrical conduit for that. The receiver part could be build from scratch by using styrene sheet. The buttstock would look best made from wood, perhaps oak, and then rasped to shape after cutting out a silhouette.

The easy way would be to get a 3D printer and find a file on the internet.

I Googled the rifle, and it turns out there are several reproductions out there at varying levels of accuracy and price ranges. You can pay $200 if you want to have to do little or nothing, or $35 for a Rubie's that will need lots of work.

Honestly, I think those are far better options than starting from scratch or 3D printing.

I just got the higher end Nerf rifle...

If you don't compare it to the original, and just paint it up, it will look really good...

If you're not in tune with the details of the original, a nicely painted Nerf version will make a fantastic and cool sci-fi rifle.

But...

In true RPF form, if you go down the rabbit hole of accuracy, even the better Nerf gun needs work.

Over all, the Nerf gun is roughly about a foot or so too short, spread over the various sections:
--The stock is about 3" too short, (and is too fat)
--Each section of the barrel(s) is about 2" too short each (2" x two or three sections)
--The scope is too short and too fat
--The receiver and related sections are roughly about an inch short
--I think the tuning fork is probably about half an inch to an inch short

Add all this up and its the better part of a foot short...

I plan on adding to the stock and extending it
I may add some tubing to the barrel sections (but part is octagonal).
I will probably modify the scope to make it proportional

But that's about it - I'll let a nice paint job carry the rest of the weight...

Try this...

Quick, rough, and dirty Power Point comp, (assuming the trigger guard is the same size):

I think in this comp, the image of toy is a smidge too big, and thus the difference would be even greater...

There is a lot wrong with that. The alterations it would take to make it look more accurate would be more work than starting from scratch.

Another option is to purchase the Sideshow 1:1 Mando bust which appears to have almost HALF the rifle built in...

I am honestly surprised no one has used the sideshow bust as a base to make the full rifle. It has a pretty nasty big key grafted onto the body which would take some work to remove, but you could pretty easily print the rest of the parts for it. I am under the impression the rifle is cast in polystone and quite heavy so I’d probably do all the clean up work on a duplicate cast, master that, and then mold that for a hollow fiberglass/epoxy copy.

Anyone want to buy the bust and send me their rifle? Lol

Timing on this reply is perfect - what follows was all done before I even read this post!

Here is a comp with the Sideshow bust.

It's seems shorter...

Shorter than the full-sized, non-toy rifle in the earlier comp (which I cannot vouch for source or accuracy):

Then again, this is quick & dirty...

Not scientific

No adjustment for photographic distortions, and sizing is eye-balled...

Here are my picks for pretty good accuracy and price---free.
