I believe if someone bought the Nerf rifle, extended the barrels, cut out the plastic stock and replaced it with a longer wooden one, and gave it a killer paint job with accurate weathering- absolutely no one at the sci-fi con would see any inaccuracies while this is strapped to the back of your Mando costume or held out for photos unless they were steeped in deep institutional knowledge about this specific prop. Probably no one who sees in on display in your prop room would notice the differences either.

Sometimes pretty close with a stellar paint/weathering job is enough to capture the spirit of the prop.
