Mandalorian Reference Thread

I think that bit sticking out below her fingers may not actually be handle. the way her pinky finger is spread down, it looks like it's curling under the bottom of the normal grip, while holding an item against the lower part of the grip (which is that piece sticking out). Looks like it could easily be a credit card sized thing that she's holding with her right hand, while also gripping the gun.
That's much the same conclusion I came to a few posts back :)
Although I think the silver square thing is actually the belt buckle.

Just posted on IGN.
Notice he has the Fett Rocket on the left gauntlet (dress armor?) and the center strip of the chest plate looks hinged.

Thought I’d share a fun little thing I did while I wait for a good kit. Printed out a file from MyMinifactory on my Elegoo Mars. This was painted with Alumaluster and a 2K clear just like the real helmet.

It was an interesting little test piece and I learned a few things for the full scale helmet.

So I have a few thoughts I’d like to share about the paint work on the armor itself. Please feel free to correct me if I’m wrong, but this may at least be a good start.

I was told not too long ago that there was a discussion that took place that ruled in favor of the fact that in Rogue One, Montana Gold Professional spray paint was used to paint Shoretrooper armor. I have no idea if that's accurate or not, but if it is in fact true, I really do believe that the weathered armor pieces (not the helmet or metallic armor) was probably painted with that same brand, and then weathered. I haven't done too much research on anything other than what I think the brown might be, but as for now, I personally believe that the brown is most likely to be the "Orange Brown" that has been weathered (The orange brown is the top spray can on the attached image).

My idea is that what they probably did was spray the whole piece with orange brown, detail the silver scuffs with a brush or airbrush, or you name it, potentially sealed it off (don't ask me what they sealed the Montana Gold with, I'm not even sure if you can seal that stuff, I've never used it), and then began the more intense weathering with different levels of black and a "sand" color. Then the scuffs showing the bottom layer of the more "orange brown" color could be done by physically scuffing it gently with a sanding sponge or some extremely high grit sand paper.

Lot of details in the sewing and leather work.
They should have done a better job on the armor weathering, it looks very amateurish especially on the shoulders.

Looks like someone painted it that way not worn and chipped like real metal.
The edges just look like it was dabbed with paint.

Maybe it's just the low quality of the photo.

Looking at photos of the rifle, it seems there's a serial number on the bottom just in front of the trigger. Leads me to believe this could be a real gun part - does anybody have any ideas as to what gun they may have used as a base?

I'm still trying to figure out the clothing layers under the armor. The simplest explanation is that there's a long sleeve canvas/duck cloth shirt as the base layer (2), a short sleeve of the same material over that (1), and then what looks like 2 flak vests. The under layer flak vest (4) with a cod piece/cover/apron type of front, and the flak vest that holds the armor (3).

This also seems like it would get immensely hot, especially for frequenting desert/arid planets. My other thought is that (1) and (4) are the same layer, just different colors.

Thoughts?

Layers 1 and 2 are the same layer, just with a "double sleeve" like you find on Boba or Jango. Something like this:

I assume you could also cut down on the heat by replacing some of that layer with mesh in areas that are covered by the layer you called 4.

Anyone notice the different armour in some shots from the show (namely the cockpit shot and him standing outside the hut) his armour is new and shiney metallic silver compared to the beat up brown in the D23 display

are the silver metal like ones flashbacks maybe or an upgrade he revived?

It sounds like he will be upgrading his armor over the course of the show, starting off with the "Cobbled" together look most commonly seen now and upgrading pieces as he goes on. Especially from the footage shown at Celebration, it sounds like for the "Main Job" of the series he is being paid in beskar , Mandalorian Metal/Alloy that he will be then forging to replace his armor pieces over the course of the show as he gets his hands on more beskar.
