Man of Steel (Pre-release)

Amy Adams will be 39 in August.

Henry Cavill turns 30 in May.

I don't mind an older Lois, she just seems a bit too old for Lois Lan.e

Any kind of armor at all in a Superman film is just plain dumb - I could care less what Snyder has up his sleeve to explain it and Jor-El's armor is the worst looking clunky piece of junk I've seen since Dean Cain's black and Silver suit on Lois and Clark. The S looks like someone blew pizza chunks all over it while the rest of it reminds me of every bad Superhero design that came out of Image studios back in the early 90's. It's just so un-imaginative and boring to stuff Superbeings in these outfits to avoid the source material. Y'know, Interview with a Vampire was on the other night and I paused on it for a bit - it was right at the part where Brad Pitt was talking about how a new mechanical wonder allowed him to see the sunlight again - first black and white, then hints of red and finally deep blue - if you remember the snippet they show to showcase the sun is when Reeve is circling the Earth at the end of his Superman films - seeing his costume really made me weep for what passes as Superman now. I'm not one of these guys who stomps up and down screaming Reeve's name over any and all Superman discussions --- well, maybe I am... point is, to me - from what I've seen so far, this new film just doesn't ring as Superman - it's not impossible to reinvent him - Byrne did it, Grant Morrison did it - heck even Miller did it - Hollywood, however, seems to be more interested in tossing every cliche in the book at the man of steel and hoping things like dark colors, armor, getting arrested and so on stick - I mean, that's what all the kids love about Batman isn't it?

I make no effort to hide my love for Snyder,
but I still want your Retro Supie flick, Jet.

One day. One day.

I'm glad to see the cheesy spandex is finally gone. I love the see actual details in the armor than dudes wearing all black chasing blue spandex around.

I've said it before - the new suit is growing on me. Love the revised emblem and long cape. Agreed that I wish they had toned down some of the textures.

Word, bro! word! There's nothing to add…

Im prob one of the few that actually is glad they got rid of the reeves style superman. If i wanna see reeves style superman ill just watch superman I and II. As for the man of steel here's me hoping it will be good and a nice change to the franchise.

Makes sense to me that kryptonians wear armors on Krypton, especially military men like Zod. On earth, I agree it's useless, and probably why Cavill is wearing only the undersuit and ditch the armor itself.
And you can hate me for it, but I don't particularly enjoy Reeves superman movies, maybe because I wasn't born yet when they came out ... So yeah, I'm eager to see this !

Here's a man who can knock down a forest of trees with a fart, it would make sense his suit would have to be reinforced some how..just sayen :p

IIRC, Superman came to earth with nothing but a blanket, a crystal (or some) and a vessel.
His Superman suit was made from his blanket, because it is the only "though" material from Krypton. Martha had to disassemble down to threads and reassembled it to a suit with the help of laser cutting vision from Clark.

Later on with Smallville, since he haven't got his suit yet, "the geniuses" invented that Superman got the "aura" that protected him and anything that he wear. This will prevent him getting naked if he walks into a blazing fire, and also protecting the one he carries (Lana or Lois).

So if he is wearing "Kryptonian" armor, maybe he disassemble the vessel and made a suit of of it? Or the "aura" thing is acceptable, so he can made his suit from any Earthly matter?

Oh this is getting wicked..........

I believe the "Aura" thing was first used when Byrne remade the Man of Steel in the 80s. Professor Hamilton discovered it while he was doing tests on Superman.
