Could be some where cut down the seam and separated and some were not. I believe 6 vest where made so they might be slightly different from on another. Same with jackets with some having stitching on the top shoulder arm seam and some not. I'm sure when arlo has time he'll chime in on the subject. Last I heard from him he was away working on another film.

Is it confirmed that they cut down triples to make those pouches? Could just be 2 single mag shingles side by side, that would account for the separation in that picture. Sorry if it was confirmed and I missed it, there's quite a lot of info in this thread!

Got my Art of Fury Road book in the mail today! it's a must own of all you guys on here!

We can see here the Bullet Farmers guy who Max takes the vest from, has a pistol in place of the knife... hmm.

Been busy with work but I see you guys have been busy too! Great work on the new info and pics. The film was amazing. I would have liked to see more Max doing more Max stuff but all around it was great.

I'm starting to think they used a lot of zip ties to attach the various pouches. It would do a lot less damage to the mesh of the vest to just widden a few holes to insert zip ties than to risk the integrity of the construction by cutting full slits for the molles straps to go through. Plus the stress from the weight of the magazines unless they used some kind of dummy rounds that didn't weigh much. Maybe Arlo can assist here as well.

What do you all think of the black 5.11 pouch on the left shoulder. Is the flap cut off or tucked in?

Just my two cents but I think he carries a Browning P35 Hi-Power in the leg holster (the grip is the right shape from what I saw in the b-roll footage and he's seen firing the Browning at one point in the film). I know that denix do a reasonably good copy.

I think you're right. Check out the gun in this photo.

Re: Mad Max: Fury Road Costumes Thread

The one in the movie is ACU Camo not Multicam but the one sold by Spec-Ops is not quite accurate. The button snap should be on the outside showing, which if you get one from Spec-Ops they have snap button covered by the strap so it's slightly different. I believe the button snap on the outside is specifically made for Chris Reeve only now. I've seen a few older made Pacific knifes that did come with a sheath with the snaps covered but I don't believe they come like that anymore but that style isn't accurate anyway.

Also not really a big deal but some of the Pacific sheaths have the snap and rivets green and some come in black. Some even come with mismatch colors. I think it's just a matter of which production you get but going through pictures for the movie the sheaths they used have green snap buttons but still hard to tell if the rivets are also green or black.

I believe the Spec-Ops sheath here is for an 8" knife which is why it appears slightly longer compared to the one made for Chris Reeve, but you can see the difference between the button snap straps

Just an FYI, the SPEC-OPS brand sheath on the left is a generic model designed to be adjustable to fit many different knives. The reason the snap is not visible is because that strap is fold over velcro and can be altered to fit a knife with a wider / narrower diameter handle. The snap is hidden by the outer layer.

The Chris Reeve sheaths that SPEC-OPS OEMs for them use elastic retention bands with a snap set in one place.

Hey guys!

any insight on where you're finding your South African Pattern 83 jackets? seems pretty scarce online.

There are a few sources. Ebay is your best bet for a cheap deal although you run the risk of a heavily used vest (mine still had ration wrappers in half of the pockets and a few bits of damage), I know kitmonster sell them in the UK but aside from that you just need to search around.

Definitely a browning. Personally I think I'm just going to rock and roll with the empty holster though. Has anyone said that the Beretta is actually the Taurus copy yet?

I'm not sure if it's been mentioned already, but there are knockoff Chris Reeve Pacific knives out there for far less than $300. Alibaba has then for ~$40 a piece with a minimum order of 5. I bet at least five of you guys will be willing to go in together.

Certainly makes buying a knife you'll only ever use for a costume a bit easier.

Additionally I found this place in South Africa selling battle jackets

R395 is approximately $33. No idea what shipping might be, but again if you guys do a group buy it might make it easier.

It's funny because anyone who is really into airsoft will know that replicas of these vests were all over US retailers.

I remember seeing them and saying to myself "Eh, not my style."
