Machined Iron Man Arc Reactor:

Re: Machined Iron Man Arc Reactor: New Pics in Post #55

best ive ever seen, i can only imagine how long and insanely pain staking it would have been to wrap the copper wire.
do you have any plans to do a mark 6 reactor???

Re: Machined Iron Man Arc Reactor: New Pics in Post #55

Bump this back up....because I'm still crossing my fingers for a kit. :D

Re: Machined Iron Man Arc Reactor: New Pics in Post #55

First time looking in on this thread -

And OH. My. GOD.

Extraordinary work. I look forward to seeing the finished product, but the pics in the mid-50s range look just spectacular already.

jason_ehl that is so sick that words can barely describe it.

The electronics and main build for the RT are complete. I have attached a picture of the final unit, and a new video of the power up/down in ambient lighting.

There are 2 separate light arrays. The inner array and outer array are designed to ramp up in a way that makes it look like the RT "warms" up from the center and starts to radiate outward. The power down "cools" from the outer circle in. (Hard to tell in the lit video...but can be seen in the previous vids in the dark) The inner array is made up of white LEDs, the outer array is a mix of white and blue LEDs.

All of the electronics/batteries fit into the base I have made... I just have to put all of the components together.

And then there was the glass.......ug.

YouTube - RT AMBIENT LIGHTING.avi

And a point of interest for anyone trying to make their RT burn as brightly as shown in the movie. (keeping visual effects out of the mix...)
Watch the scene where Pepper/Tony replace the RT in his work shop. The unit is hand held...yet seems to be very very bright with no visible power source.
As Pepper walks away with RT in hand watch how the cables dangle...
The RT was actually plugged in and the power cord was greened and painted out...you can really tell if you watch how the red/black/white cables change directions as she walks towards camera.

Just a little nerd moment after staring at this thing for soooo long.

Have a great weekend.

awesome work. will you sell some here?

Re: Machined Iron Man Arc Reactor: New Post #111

212 parts later...

I fit together all of the RT bits today and am happy to see things almost finished up.

All of the electonics are hidden in the base so the entire unit is self contained. I made up a small aluminum switch that sits at the back of the base to turn the RT on/off. There is a 5 sec delay on the electronics so that you can get your hand out of the way before the light show starts.

The only thing left is the glass enclosure.
