I recently bought a mace windu ep 2 saber and ive got a two questions,

1) is there supposed to be a hole opposite the side with the covertec knob?
2) i read somewhere that the 3 brass bars are supposed to be off center on the actual prop, is this true?

The saber is question is the one that was being sold here

any and all help is appreciated.

I have the MR replica and I can say (having it infront of me as I'm typing this)
1) Yes there is a small hole on the opposite side of the covertec knob.
allthough I don't really understand the second question.
but I do have another thing to point out. the lil' rubber strip at the "bottom" of the hilt is supposed to go all the way around. From what I can see on the pictures of your replica it isn't going all the way. It looks like it's missing a piece.
It's a good replica but not 100% accurate.

!! I think I know what you meant with 2)...

this is my Mace Windu epII replica from MR. As you can see the top is not twisted in the same direction as yours (sorry for my terrible english, hope you still understand me)
the covertec knob is on the "side" of the hilt and the three brass bars are in the "front"

On question 2 if I'm understanding you correctly, the 3 brass pieces near the emitter end are off set towards the covertec side, as far as I can tell from the images I have anyway.

Hello there,

1. Yes there's a hole opposite the covertec knob on mine as well.
2. My three gold/brass bars are indeed off center!
3. Also my whole top section before the grips is turned more away from the covertec knob then yours. The left brass bar is almost in line with the hole opposite the covertec clip ... don't know enough about this lightsaber if that is screen-accurate though.
4. Perhaps you can glue that 'leather' part at the end closed, yes? I had to do it on mine too!

1) is there supposed to be a hole opposite the side with the covertec knob?
Yes, this exists on the original prop

2) i read somewhere that the 3 brass bars are supposed to be off center on the actual prop, is this true?
Yes, the 3 bars are off center.

That particular saber being sold to you was created by some very talented people both on and off this forum and was made BEFORE episode II came out; certainly well before MR released their licensed one. It was based solely on reference pictures. There are a few small inaccuracies with it, but more importantly, that saber is the result of a mass collaboration effort of enthusiasts and accuracy buffs, done the old fashion way, which to me makes it more valuable. Hang on to it, it's a part of oldschool prop collecting history.

Thanks very much for that detailed explanation. Since receiving the saber, i have reglued, the grips and given this saber a nice polish. I'm glad i purchased this saber, more so now that i know a bit more of its history.
