M40 grenade reference

Hi there. I am looking into making a few machined Grenades for my Pulse Rifle. Does anyone here have accurate photo's, and measurments? I can assume that they are the same size as a 12 guage round, but I need to know the measurments of the slots on the side.

O.k. I have a mini-metal lathe and the aluminum stock to do this. Question is, any clue as to what the cap is made of? My guess is plastic but I am always wrong.

Bad thing is I won't be home until mid-September to give this a whirl. Booooooo.

Current replicas use a plastic cap. I don't know for a fact but it would be a fair guess the originals used plastic caps as well.

Here is a side by side of an actual "hero" and one of the older versions of mine.

If you need any caps, just let me know. I had to order a qty of a 1000 to cap my own set. ...and the pin striping tape has become a special order item within the last year or so. (paid 17 bucks to receive a 4 dollar roll.) There's a good chance that the actual screen used prop used a vac-formed cap painted over. I wanted to make mine more durable over the long haul.

O.k., been carving some up to get an idea of these things and was wondering about the size of the grenade (if that was what it was) used by Vasquez and the LT in the air vents of Aliens. I thought they popped a cap of a bigger grenade to kill themselves and surrounding aliens...but my memory is horrid. I take it they detonate the same size grenade as seen in the first post? But it brings up the question if there were any variations size-wise.

Nope, all the grenades were the same size... Oddly enough, roughly the same dimensions as a shotgun shell
