Still, I'd like to see them put in the effort for accurate sabers. They touted the Legacy sabers being great representations of the screen used hilts but that was a deal-breaker for me on the ROTJ Luke, I was fully planning to buy it but yikes that thick neck is ugly.

My wife bought me one on our honeymoon, because it's my favorite canon saber. It ended up being dangerous because I bought the 7C/PP Hero from Korbanth when they discounted them and jumped on the 7C/Veracity Labs MoM as soon as I learned I had not missed it, haha.

Ha! Is it really a saber collection if you don't have at least one duplicate though? Mine is mostly 3D printed sabers ATM and a few hardware ones. Always told myself I didn't really NEED metal hilts as gorgeous as they are but planned on getting an ANH Obi-Wan as my one metal grail saber. After seeing the new Mando Luke, it shot to #1 in my priorities to get a nice metal one and made me really catch the Star Wars bug again.

I watched the making of Mandalorian season 2 over and over and instead of focusing on pictures, i tried to listen for words. They said about the Asohka's that they had to keep making them bigger to fit the components and batteries(obviously because of them being more flat than round). Even though they didn't talk about the Luke Hero at all, it would be WRONG to draw the same conclusion for the Hero hilt as Halliwax showed us earlier, the shot with the hilt laying on the table. Looks normal sized to me and the whole hilt is cylindrical. One might ask, which one is it? The belt hanger or the stunt? Right now, its hard to say based on that emitter nipple(I would assume the belt hanger because it doesnt look FX and the Rylo, which i believe it is, is not FX.) So that brings us to the stunt. To me, it looks no bigger in the hand than the belt hanger did. There is an obvious thin neck and an obvious box. Could they have molded a resin stunt based off the Rylo, and hollowed the insides like the Asohka's to accommodate electronics? yes, possibly...and they wouldn't have had to change the size or thicken the neck at all to do it. Still conjecture, i know but that's where i'm leaning based on what we have at the moment.

I'm almost positive that they had the issue with Ahsoka's sabers due to the square shape and thinness of the hilts. There doesn't seem to be any evidence that they had issues with the Luke saber based on what we saw in the episode and as we all know, there is more than enough room for batteries in there, particularly when you don't have to worry about sound effects.

Yeah, I was just reiterating haha. I really hope they do a mini-documentary about Luke at some point as he really is the "elephant in the room" of this new BTS episode.

I also think it's awesome how bright the Ahsoka FX sabers are, I am fairly convinced they didn't have to even retouch them in some shots.

This is an interesting shot. The pommel cubes look like they are slanted towards the emitter, the way they are on the rotj hero prop, the way they are on the MOM of all heroes replica and the way they are on my hero saber. But.. decidedly not the way they look on the symmetrical Rylo pommel.

Interesting. This shot would presumably be the FX, correct? So... unless the production created their own, we are looking at any replicas out there have the correct pommel, FX capability, but the idealized grenade section.

I am personally wondering if they DID make the hero and FX sabers new for this episode, based off of the MOM Hero saber. They probably just idealized the grenade (because why wouldn't they, it's easier and looks cleaner) and moved the Tri-ring to make it more appropriate to hang on the belt. Any other tweaks would just come from it being a new build. We know that saber is still in the archives (although currently on tour) and they have a TON of reference photos for it.

Then again, that doesn't explain the control box...

As far as I know there are no replicas with a asymmetrical pommel cubes, solid (no pilot hole) bottom and even grip rings.
But, I wouldn't bet on any of these details being certain, since the pictures we have are so poor. Also, there might have been more than one stunt, so we don't know if all the details are consistent.

There's no need for them to have gone to the MOM saber directly, there's tons of details available just from a quick google search that could be combined in any which way by a builder.

Also, if the Ashoka sabers were 3d printed, these stunts could be as well. We really don't know at this point.

well..that shoots down my theory of a resin or aluminum cast of the Belt hanger then...we are getting closer to the TRUTH. Thanks man...good catch

Yup, I don't see Luke as being a late addition given the way this show has been meticulously planned and plotted since the beginning (Unlike the ST).

right, but again that belt hanger box is spot on to the Rylo...spot on, so we are still dealing with 2 different hilts entirely, or they take a Rylo box and stick it on a prop they made but i don't think so. Also, the whole Even rings issue is clearly the progression of the prop itself. That was the true intent of the hilt to eventually become, that is why we got even rings on the TLJ creepy. It's us fans that love the screen accurate ones so much but that doesn't facilitate Filoni and Favreau to have to go back to ROTJ to the point of making sure the Hero hilt has uneven rings to match the prop of old...not arguing with you by any means actually agree with you, i'm just trying to reestablish what we are talking about here, if we are talking exclusively about the stunt, the belt hanger or both.(also, for people just chiming in who haven't read the whole thread)

I have been looking at the belt hanger as that got the clearest shots and the stunts are meant to be the "Hero" prop from a canonical standpoint.

I totally agree, the box is dead on but that could just have been them using the same reference.

I still think it definitely bears a STRONG resemblance to the Rylo but looking at it from a "Who's in charge" point of view, I can't buy that F&F didn't think ahead enough to make sure a saber was ready in time and them having to buy a readily made hilt instead of doing whats been done for years and even done by them amd their team in the same season with Ashoka's hilts. If they were on a fan-made kick, there are plenty of Ashoka hilts that work with blades, they said they had issues with that, if they had got a fan-made Luke, why not go back to the fans for Ashoka's to see if they figured it out? Looking at it that way, I'm pretty convinced that's what they did.

that's a great point! about the Asohka's...unless, like i said before(My romanticizing Star Wars) it was one of F&F's(love that btw..easier) personal fan made belt hanger that they wanted to lend personally to that character symbolizing their personal investment into Star Wars and that specific character given, they had to keep it a secret for so long...but that doesn't at all explain the stunt version so...i'm probably wrong...lol

ohhh, i meant to say earlier, not specifically to you personally, but the group...You ever think any of these guys and gals that work with Star Wars ever pose as like new member moles on the RPF to try to extract ideas and info that would help them? lol..i just have this weird suspicion that it happens..Very smart, if so.
