Re: Luke on Tauntaun Stop motion replica?

This looks killer!

Guy, I dug up some reference in my internet travels of the prop in its current state. Not the best by any means, but there's some clear shots of the head, both sides, and the back which might come in handy. PM sent!

Re: Luke on Tauntaun Stop motion replica?

edit: My reply below was to a comment that was taken out of context. Apologies for the knee-jerk reaction AT-AT, caught me on a bad night. :)

Do you have anything to share, besides verbal diarrhea? I find it suspect that you never post in studio scale, but you choose this to be your first comment?

Yes, I am sharing them... with Guy. Last time I checked we were free to do such things. He did a favor for me a while back (Koolshade) and this is my way of returning the favor. Almost all of the images I have can be dug up from shots of the exhibits on public photosharing sites. If anyone is interested in doing the legwork themselves like I did, hop to it, but don't sit around and hassle other members for actually contributing something that might help a member add as much authenticity as they can to their project.

I have no qualms about posting the pictures here, but the files are large so unless someone wants to volunteer 40-50 megs of hosting space to me, the pics are going to be sent privately. And the day it becomes forum policy for every member to publish every reference image they have on the forum publicly, I'll be the first to sign up. Until then, the trolling isn't necessary.

What, we're not going to share, dragnink?

Re: Luke on Tauntaun Stop motion replica?

Thanks Matt, got em.

AT-AT Luvah, the Taun is one of the most photographed props on the circuit, If some one want to help me out in a way you don't like I can recommend starting your own thread about it. I do like to Keep my threads on topic & pleasant. From my own research on the net I have over 100 pics of this prop & thanks to Matt I have a few more now. If you go back a few pages you will also see that there are some great ref pics in this thread so if we can keep snide comments to the playground that would be great?

Re: Luke on Tauntaun Stop motion replica?

Wow, I had no idea my question would be taken as a snide comment. I should have added a smiley face. Oh, and I do post to Studio Scale, maybe you have not seen those posts before. My screen-name IS AT-AT luvah, after all.

But I did not mean to sound snarky, but I see how they could have been taken that way. It was just meant to be a nudge, nudge, wink, wink type of thing.

Sorry it rubbed you the wrong way. Didn't mean it at all in the way it was taken.

As anybody who has read my posts knows, I am so not into flame wars or arguments on the net, and I think my post history will attest to that.

I will now bow out of your thread so it goes back on topic.

Hector

Re: Luke on Tauntaun Stop motion replica?

Sorry Hector, it was taken the wrong way. It was a bit of bad timing, it appeared to be about some posts from another thread. You are more than welcome to post here. I just wont tolerate anyone else's problems in my thread no matter who they are.

Re: Luke on Tauntaun Stop motion replica?

Well said dude. This is going to be one of those killer threads I must say, i can,t wait to see this baby finished.
Regarding fur for this thing, Iv'e read the pages in the STG book and my dad chimed in and said he talked to a taxidermist who suggested rat fur!. I first thought yuk!!, but hey, yknow they are plentiful and he says the fur is very fine and comes in a range of colors or can be colored to suit.
What do you think regarding this mate?.
Merry Chistmas to you dude, have a safe and good one.
Regards
Stu:confused

Re: Luke on Tauntaun Stop motion replica?

Thanks Stu, I think when its time all fur's will be considered depending on results, I want to achieve a look that is a cross between the SM prop & the hero full scale prop, the calf fur is slightly out of scale to the hero but it will be that tricky to get right we may even use synthetic. Once the first cast is done proper tests will begin, the sad thing is that there is very little ref of the Taun when she was just completed, the prop today does look like a scanky Rat so maybe your right! :lol

Re: Luke on Tauntaun Stop motion replica?

Rat fur. Hmmm....

Ya know, I bet the fur started coming off of the filming puppets almost as soon as they were connected to their rigs!
